St. Johns Golf & Country Club
About
Carved from a forest of pines and winding through wetlands and lagoons, St. Johns Golf & Country Club offers a scenic 18-hole round located between St. Augustine and Jacksonville. The course features tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens. There is also the occasional two-tiered green to look out for. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are several well-placed bunkers. Depending on how the wind is blowing, the course can range from being gentle to very demanding. Six sets of tees make the course accessible to players of all skill levels. In addition to the course, St. Johns Golf & Country Club also offers extensive practice facilities including a 10,000 sq. foot putting green, chipping green, and a double-sided driving range.

Fun afternoon
Just glad to be playing. Finally found a good on line rate so got some buddies together to play. Course was in good shape. Doing renovations to the clubhouse.
Very nice course
Course layout is very nice. Greens are a bit rough but manageable.
Love the course
The greens were alot slower than usual but it was still a great round.
Consistent
This is one of my regular courses and I love playing here. Service is always great! The course is in great condition. The greens are not like they used to be, but they are still nice greens.
Must Play if in Area (moderately detailed overview below)
Was super impressed with this course. Have played a lot in the area as here on vacation/visiting in-laws and this one takes the cake.
Staff: Was fantastic, kind, knowledgeable and very accommodating.
Tee boxes: Well maintained and clean (people or staff actually pick up their tees after their shot), would advise people to play the recommended tee box’s...if you are a longer hitter with a sub 5 index would play the Gold (back tees). It will suggest on the scorecard where to play from.
Fairways: very fair landing zones, pretty open for a higher handicapper
Bunkers: well positioned, and very nice sand (this might sound odd, but the bunkers/sand seems to be of much higher quality than other public courses)
Greens: the greens were the best part of this course, they are quick and roll true! Probably rolled to an 11/12 on the stimpmeter
Water: there is a lot of water on the course with beautiful views, but no forced carries other than a par 3. I wouldn’t let the water deter you from playing this course.
19th hole: I left pretty quickly, but believe the club house is under renovation, so didn’t get to experience this.
Enjoy this gem!
St. John’s G&CC is blessed
Very good track but pretty tight. Greens in good condition.
Only negatives: 1) No course map on scorecards or anywhere; 2) No rakes in bunkers (may have been an anti-coronavirus measure).
great day
Course has a good layout with plenty of challenging holes. Except for the practice putting green course is in good shape. Would definitely play this course again.
Average
Great layout and great pace of play. Could be a beautiful course if they kept up with the course. Greens were bumpy and not in good shape. Over priced for the condition of the course.
What happened
Play this course numerous times over numerous years first time out was amazing conditions specifically the greens being beautiful smooth and rolled true and fast.
As a recent, we showed up everything was brown specifically the Teebox is fairways were mediocre greens had some type of virus and we’re very patchy and completely destroyed.
Still rolled even though it depressing seeing these types of conditions. It’s a shame they put money into building a new clubhouse where the golf course clearly needs the money instead.
over priced for the condition of course
Practice green unusable and greens on course very spotty. In my opinion the price is not good for the conditions on the course.
Thank you for the 5 star review! Cannot wait for you to come see us again next time you are in town.
Needs Improvement
Have lived in the area for years, and always heard great things, though not as much as of late. Decided to give it a shot for the first time, and was pretty disappointed. Greens were in rough shape and very inconsistent, though still rolled very firm & fast. Fairways were chopped up. Poorly painted turf in many areas. Teeing ground on the range was a mess. (one of the pros giving a lesson was pretty frustrated that he didn't have a solid place from which to teach) Registered as a twosome... starter paired us with another twosome... with singles and twosomes around us on a relatively quiet afternoon. Made for a very awkward front 9 until we each decided to split up enjoy the rest of our rounds separately. Its a very challenging layout, made more challenging by the rough conditions. Could be great. Not there yet.
Thank you for detailing your experience. Our GM would love to hear more about your round, bpasquith@stjohnsgolf.com. Please reach out to him.
Nice Course
Good golf course, I have always enjoyed playing here. Great staff and the course conditions were really nice for this time of year.
Thank you for your 5 star review and comments. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Locals rule
This is a nice layout but needs some TLC greens were good but fairways were a little choppy, bunkers just reseeded fringe =GUR club house renovations made for a bit of confusion re cart paths but this felt like a club for locals who did not care much for snowbirds playing there
Almost there
This is a well designed course with potential, fairways are a little torn up but the greens are good and faster than appear. Water on most holes but not unfair pace was good
Construction made for some minor rerouting Not a big deal but not serving breakfast before 10am?
I will wait for next season to see how it turns out not hurrying back soon
Thank you for coming out and playing. We are excited to come out of dormancy and for the course to rejuvenate quickly. Come see us again when you are back in town. Please email our GM with any other questions you may have bpasquith@stjohnsgolf.com
Spotty greens
No consistency in the greens, some really slow and some fast.
Rain, thunder
Rain and thunder stopped us from playing. Since it was a hot deal from golf now, we evidently are not able to get our money back, even though we did not get to play. Hood course, great staff, in nice weather would be great.
Thank you for coming out to play. We are excited about the warmer temperatures and the improvements that you will see the next time you come out to play. The wet start to winter really effected the practice area. We'd love to hear more about your round. Please contact our GM at bpasquith@stjohnsgolf.com
