St. Johns Golf & Country Club
About
Carved from a forest of pines and winding through wetlands and lagoons, St. Johns Golf & Country Club offers a scenic 18-hole round located between St. Augustine and Jacksonville. The course features tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens. There is also the occasional two-tiered green to look out for. Water hazards come into play throughout and there are several well-placed bunkers. Depending on how the wind is blowing, the course can range from being gentle to very demanding. Six sets of tees make the course accessible to players of all skill levels. In addition to the course, St. Johns Golf & Country Club also offers extensive practice facilities including a 10,000 sq. foot putting green, chipping green, and a double-sided driving range.

Course Condition
Two issues
One, I came up as a single and they sent me out with a couple who played only nine holes. There was no conversation saying he could put me in with another .So I was left as a single between two foursomes and there was no starter to talk to at 3PM. The pro shop was very accommodating and charged me for 9 holes since I was not comfortable playing at a very slow pa e as a single
Two, the green conditions were not very good with a lot of new grass coming up. I would like to play it when conditions are better
I

Thank you for your comments. This winter we had increased the height of our greens. We are in the process of reducing the height as we are now entering warmer weather and are sure you will notice a difference during your next round. Please visit stjohnsgolf.com to book your next tee time.
St John's Golf and CC
Several of the greens were very suspect. Almost as if they had a fungus on them. They still rolled surprisingly well and were as fast as any I have played in recent memory. Gave it three stars only because of what is probably a temporary greens problem and the cost. Not the best value @$75 in my opinion considering the greens.
We did have some algae set in and our maintenance staff has been working to remedy the problem. You are sure to see an improvement during your next round. Be sure to visit stjohnsgolf.com to book your tee time.
Good deal
Staff courteous course enjoyable conditions good fought the wind and enjoyed the day
We are happy to hear you enjoyed the day. The wind can get tricky as it comes through the pines. Visit stjohnsgolf.com to book your next tee time.
Our GM would love to hear more about your experience, please contact him at bpasquith@stjohnsgolf.com.
Green have been punched and cut
When we cked into today one could see sand on the 18th green. The staff said their was some sand an a few spots on the greens...All greens have been sanded completely...Not sure why the employee was dishonest....go somewhere/anywhere else for 2 plus weeks..Only rain in forecast is .25 inches in next 5 days/CBS.....Also on the par 5 8th hole today. there were 6 different groups on the hole...yes three groups waiting on tee box..one group moving to fairway, one in middle of fairway and one group putting....Obviously never seen this before and hope to never see again....ranger was awol?
Greens not fair
This course always has fast greens but they are beyond fast now.. The greens dont have much grass to slow the ball down. In addition they were aerated yesterday.
Thank you for your 5 star review!
Greens Disappointing
Very nice layout and design. Greens were in very poor condition. No grass on most of them and fungus evident throughout greens. There was a group of five who arrived just before our tee time and was split into two groups pushing back our tee time. It was a five hour round with waiting at each hole. May try it another time of year when greens could be in better shape.
We appreciate your comments. The greens did experience some algae, but our maintenance team has put their agronomy skills to use in getting them take care of. Please visit stjohnsgolf.com to book your next tee time.
Thank you for your 5 star review!
Greens
Greens are fast but not in as good condition as they had been. It appears there may have been ponding during the rain on some of the greens that caused some rough spots.
Great course
First time playing the course, greens are like marble.
Great layout, lousy weather
I've played SJGCC around 12 times, many of them in Monday fund raising tournaments. We played in winter, on Christmas Eve this time in an on-again/off-again drizzle that kept us on 'cart path only' which made the round a slug. I was surprised at the good condition of fairways and especially the bunkers which were all tended and full of sand. My big surprise was the greens which have always been outstanding but now are fighting invasion by poa annua and fungus, especially the practice green. I remember the first time I played SJGCC within the first week of it opening and the greens were pro. Firm, fast, and like carpet. Typically greens are at the top of the budgetary ledger and greens keeper's priority list, but here the greens do not match the rest of the course in conditioning. The layout is great with many memorable holes and the employees have always been top notch. Would join SJGCC if I lived closer as its a great track, highly recommended!
My favorite course
Always well maintained for both fairways and greens. A lot of hazards waters, bankers and woods. Greens are very fast like PGA tournaments courses. Good practice facilities, maybe, the practice putting green need more maintenance. In overall, this is my favorite course in this area.
Rained out after 6 holes. Cart path only---way toooo wet
We enjoy this course, but unfortunately today was not good. Cart path only created a problem, followed by more rain, wind and cool temperatures. We had to leave after 6 holes.
Don’t come here unless you have a lot of time
Same old issues for the pass 10 plus years...Club house called starter and tried to put a member 5 group in front os us...starter split them....so we were delayed 2 teetimes...they always do this....we waited on ever shot....not unusual...normal here...however
Problems with greens have started...looks like it is going to tough in 2-3 months...hope I am wrong....always loved the greens here
Too expensive for locals
Course in great shape and the greens are rolling faster than ever but are true...hint-..greens do not break do to speed off ball...ranger is never helpful ...seems to make excuses why people in front of you are slow but tolerable
Thanks for coming out and playing.
