Chestatee Golf Club

We had a great day on the links for mid-November. The weather was beautiful but the pace of play was pitiful. The course was in great shape. Greens are in excellent condition and rolling pure. Fairways & tees are in good condition going into late fall. Now the pace of play....we had a couple of wanna be Pros in front of us who would take an eternity to hit their next shot, they would drive to their ball, get out of the cart, walk to their ball, admire the shot they just hit, get a yardage, go back to their cart, decide on a club, walk back to their ball, 5-8 practice swings, align themselves to the sun, trees, pin or whatever else, pause for 40-60 seconds (yes we timed it) then finally hit the shot, and you guessed it, the shot was as pitiful as the pace of play...amatuer pre-shot routines do not need to be a mirror of what they see on the Golf Channel. We had no opportunity to get into a rhythm as we were waiting on every shot minus our tee shot on 1. We asked on course employees to assist with the speed of play with little or no improvement. Keep in mind weekend play here will be 5-6 hour on course commitment.

I have been lucky enough to play several rounds of golf throughout this pandemic. I am now asking myself - WHY DID I NOT PLAY THIS COURSE SOONER?! The course was in excellent condition (ok, the leaves are about to be an issue)... the greens - RIDICULOUS. The fairways - super well groomed (kudos to the superintendent and crew)... We saw the drink cart three times... (when does that happen anymore?). If you are looking for a great course, a fun challenge and a great value - Hit them up! Nice work guys! FORE!

Played Friday morning, two days after torrential rains. Great condition and cart path only on a hand full of holes. Greens were in great shape! Excellent value for the money.

The good... This course is a very beautiful North GA course that has a very unique and challenging layout. It winds in and out of a neighborhood but you never feel like you’re hitting on top of houses. The bunkers were also in good shape as were the fairways.

The bad... This course seems to suffer from the same curse that many other GA courses do as well, which is charging way more try and they are worth. We paid $55 on a Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 which was barely enough time to finish to finish the round. No range, no beverage cart and no starter to manage the first tee...

The range was closed for no apparent reason, and the staff said it closes at 12:30. Why? No reason was given. The greens were absolutely horrible. They played extremely slow as though they hadn’t been mowed in ages, and they had patchy spots and dead spots all over every single green, as well as no discernible fringe. Basically you go from rough to green.

Again, this is not a BAD course. But you don’t get what you pay for. Charging $50+ on a weekday late afternoon, you expect amenities like a range and to be able to at least warm up. This course in a different region where there are more courses and a higher standard to uphold would be $25-30 at the same time of week and lack of amenities etc.

Great neighborhood and beautiful / enjoyable golf course with no pace pressure. Staff was more than engaging.

This is a good course, but every time I play it the pace is nearly 5 hours! No Rangers to be found, it’s a bit ridiculous.

I was looking for a course to play within an hour from home that had a challenging layout but was also scenic and I found that course here!

The course was well maintained but the greens were slow due to aeration recently but that will return in time.

Course was in great condition. Really a gem for the price. Cool, sunny morning. Lots of leaves to deal with, but expected. Traps need re-sanding after storms.

Played the Blues, so 6500 yards. Slope 147. Course is fun and legit. No two holes alike. And no gimme holes. Even the 300-350 yard hole require decent placed drives.

Will be coming back.

Would not have played had GolfNow alerted that the greens were recently aerated. Very disappointed in not having this info. Who is to blame? Chestatee or GolfNow? Either way, would not have spent $70+ to play the course. Weekend value with aerated greens should have been about $40 and not $70+. Would be nice to get a refund even though I don't need the refunded money, but it just would be the right thing to do.
