Inspired by the backdrop of the Manatee River, Ted McAnlis has created the ultimate golf experience with the perfect combination of beauty and challenge. Waterlefe Golf & River Club is built along a particularly beautiful section of the Manatee River, complete with wide expanses of pristine marshes and pleasant coves. Don't be surprised if on the 15th tee you spot a family of manatees poking noses up for a breath of air. The golf course was designed with a great deal of time, effort and expense going toward protecting and resorting the natural environment that gives the course it unique character. The gently sloped greens with the newest Tifteagle Bermuda offer the ultimate in putting. From a lazy start on the par-5 first hole to the big finish on the 18th hole island green, golfers love Waterlefe Golf & River Club!

A True Golfer's Gem
We played as a twosome at 7 am. Pace was excellent. Waterlefe is a very challenging course from tee to green that punishes wayward shots. Fairway grass is perfect throughout the course. Rough is thick & penal. Water penalty areas and forced carries are ubiquitous. Greens rolll very nicely at about a 10 on the stimp. Greens are tricky because as the ball looses speed the strong grain imparts a strong break component but their robust speed demands respect. Sand traps are very well kept. The sand is not compacted and well groomed.. The layout has many classic high risk-reward holes that are designed to tempt shot makers. This course has plenty of natural beauty with several holes adjacent to the Bradenton river. Overall a great challenging golf course that I highly recommend. The layout and golf accessories at the pro shop were well thought out and very classy.

The course was In very good condition. Can be challenging from the blue tees, if your over a 10 handicap play the whites.

Waterlefe is one of my favorite courses in the area, hands down. Yes, the greens were recently aerated, which made them slightly bumpy, but everything else was in great condition. It's nice to golf on a Florida course with lush fairways and rough, good tee boxes, and a fantastic layout. Plus, you get free range balls, GPS carts, and ice/water on the course. I definitely recommend playing here if you're in the area (it's worth the hour+ drive for me every time).
