Inspired by the backdrop of the Manatee River, Ted McAnlis has created the ultimate golf experience with the perfect combination of beauty and challenge. Waterlefe Golf & River Club is built along a particularly beautiful section of the Manatee River, complete with wide expanses of pristine marshes and pleasant coves. Don't be surprised if on the 15th tee you spot a family of manatees poking noses up for a breath of air. The golf course was designed with a great deal of time, effort and expense going toward protecting and resorting the natural environment that gives the course it unique character. The gently sloped greens with the newest Tifteagle Bermuda offer the ultimate in putting. From a lazy start on the par-5 first hole to the big finish on the 18th hole island green, golfers love Waterlefe Golf & River Club!

Brutal pace
Course is in good shape. Tees, and fairways are plush with minimal thinning. The greens were aerified about a week and a half ago but have healed about 75-80% and we're rolling okay. Still a little slow but should be prime in another 2 weeks or so. My only complaint would be the brutal pace of play. I zipped through the first 7 holes on the front only to run into about 6 groups, all back, to back. I went back to one and played the front again, then went to the back. I ran into the same groups on number 15. I played 15 and 16, then called it quits. I couldn't believe the amount of people out on a Wednesday afternoon. If you choose to play here be ready to wait a lot and at least a 4 and a half hour round.

If you book through TeeOff.com and got rained out, the computer system states I played 9 holes. When, in fact, I only played 7.5 holes. I only received a 45% credit based on the above. BUYER BEWARE!

Absolutely stunning
Passed here going to Popstroke in Sarasota a month ago. Said I had to play this course and boy am I happy. Very quirky and strategic. Some breathtaking holes that will test your skill. I'm not great and shot 101 but knew nothing about the course. My next time should fare better. Beautiful trek all around and will 1000% be back soon.

Has Water in its name for a reason
Played 17 of 18 holes today due to weather but what a gem! Tee to green in perfect shape. Loved all the houses as well with all the boats and docks in their back yard. Bring plenty of golf balls though, it doesn’t have the name “Water” in it for no reason…

confusing but scenic
Lots of nice views and wildlife, cart paths only sand in many places and some parts of golf course under construction, confusing layout in places and need to follow an experienced golfer, some greens are dried out

Nest course
Always challenging and always has the best grass. Always playing from grass not a bare spot or weeds.

Waterlefe
Waterlefe was again excellent, great fairways and the greens rolled true and fast. The greens had been aerated approx. 3 weeks ago and could hardly tell as the greens were in perfect condition.

Excellent and fun layout
Course condition was great, considering greens were punched only a few weeks ago. Greens were patchy in colour but rolled great at good speed.
Lots of tee options for all skill levels. The speed of play could’ve been better. There was no course Marshall on course. The back 9 is lots of fun with interesting holes. Will be back for another game!

Great course.
Greens were a little slow. play was great until back nine. Slow play no rangers pushing them along. I called the club house from hole 11 where there were two foursomes in front of me waiting to tee off with, no help from the pro shop.

Course was in excellent shape (sure, a few spots here and there they were clearly working on, but it didn't really affect play). Greens were aerated recently, but still putt as good if not better than most courses in the area. Pace of play on the Front 9 was fast and smooth, backed up a little on the Back 9, but still finished in 3 1/2 hrs. Love free range balls, water & ice, and with a TeeOff Hot Deal it was well worth an hour plus drive from Clearwater area.
