Inspired by the backdrop of the Manatee River, Ted McAnlis has created the ultimate golf experience with the perfect combination of beauty and challenge. Waterlefe Golf & River Club is built along a particularly beautiful section of the Manatee River, complete with wide expanses of pristine marshes and pleasant coves. Don't be surprised if on the 15th tee you spot a family of manatees poking noses up for a breath of air. The golf course was designed with a great deal of time, effort and expense going toward protecting and resorting the natural environment that gives the course it unique character. The gently sloped greens with the newest Tifteagle Bermuda offer the ultimate in putting. From a lazy start on the par-5 first hole to the big finish on the 18th hole island green, golfers love Waterlefe Golf & River Club!

Nice course in good conditions
Only negative would be the pace of play was a little slow, about 4:45 to finish. And the noseeums were bad as the day wore on, so bring big spray. Did not expect that but there is alot of water so be ready for it.

Challenging Course
The course is challenging but a very good layout. Bad shots are punished but you can still score if you're in play. The greens are rolling true and fast. The fairways were in good shape and some were close to perfect. I Really enjoyed the course and would definitely play it again.

Very Windy Day on a Great Layout
A favorite course in the area and would play it even more often with reasonable pricing. The layout is a tough challenge for good players and not for a beginner or an occasional golfer. It has water hazards in play on almost every hole; forced carries for several others and it is especially more difficult on a windy day. It's a good test of your best golf game. The course conditions are good, and the greens are quite true with a relatively quick speed. Bunkers are fair with good white sand to play out. Sadly, no marshal to keep the groups moving. In front of us, 2 young ladies' good players, however, they thought they were on the PGA Tour; and took forever to hit shots and were extremely slow on the greens. One kept doing the back off and re-do her routine on every putt...it was very slow! The couple with them were also slow. They kept driving their carts together and never played ready golf. We waited on every hole and on the 14th hole we waited an entire 10 minutes, which lead to 3 groups on the tee. Please, have a marshal out there in the afternoon, with these high green fee rates being charged.

tough course
alot of water so if you stray you will be penalized, keep it straight and its a rewarding course. probably best for golfers under 20 handicap, conditions very good.

Highly recommended
Beautiful course / beautiful scenery. Great layout. Meticulously maintained. Bring extra balls due to water hazards (not an issue if you play down the middle!). I plan to return for more rounds in the future.

A favorite
Friendly staff. Teed off about 10 minutes early which is very unusual. Round too just over 4 hours. Front nine is nice but back nine is spectacular. Highly recommend this course.
