Golfer Reviews
Disappointed
Being new to the area we searched for a nice course with good conditions and found it in Citrus National. The practice area is great and the staff is always pleasant. I played here 5 weeks ago and the course was in great shape, I recently invited friends from out of state to play and the course was burnt up, greens had patches of what looked like crab grass to the point we used a two putt rule and also moved the ball to a patch of grass on the fairways. I really enjoy this course and hope that they get back on track soon.
Double Bogie. Poor communication
Let me first say I tried to book this round earlier in the week and the app would not confirm my round although my card was charged. I called customer service and they manually booked around, all good right? No, the day before the round I called the course and they didn't have anything in the system. The gentleman at the front desk assured me it was in the system. I showed up for my round on Saturday and nothing was in the system. I took it out on the sweet old lady behind the desk, Marcia, and she eventually made it right. I apologize for my behavior but it was not her fault. This is not the first time this has happened at this course with miscommunication between golf now and the course. Please fix.
So sorry about your bad experience.

Your rating of 1, although painful was fair.
Give us another try. Conditions are incredibly improved. New Superintendent has us in the right direction. No more weeds and tees are green again.

Cow Pasture
This was the worst golf course I have played in years in terms of the quality of the golf course.
The greens were spotty with weeds and the fairways barely had any grass on them, they should have paid me to play there.
We will pay you to play here.
Try us again and ask for the owners special.
Conditions are much improved with new Superintendent. He loves to water and fertilize.
Weeds on greens are GONE and tees are green again.

Where's the Grass?
I played this course for the first time, and it has a nice layout but is sparse on grass in the fairways. The greens were invaded by some crabgrass that I'd never seen before.
The staff was amiable, and the food was good, but the course needs improvement for me to play there again.
The grass was there yet it was parched. Rain and improved irrigation has us back in business.
Try us again soon and enjoy our "Play Us Again" Special.
New Superintendent loves water and fertilizer.

Crabgrass National Golf Course
Played back in the spring and now the course is worse.
No grass!! Very dry
The the only grass is the crabgrass taking over the greens.
Fairways are dirt/dead grass.
Your 2 rating was generous. We were down to 1 ratings in September.
Now:
Crabgrass is GONE.
Tees and fairways are green.
Try us again using our "Play Us Again" Special.
You will be amazed.

The sad truth
This course has a good layout. However course conditions are another matter. The greens are unputtable, the teeboxes have no grass and the fairways are a wasteland. It is a shame that a course with such potential and designed by Hale Irwin has fallen to this.
Needs serious work
This is my favorite course in the area, and I usually golf there once a week. Unfortunately the fairways and greens are in terrible shape. Now it's a bit embarrassing to take anyone there. I heard rumor they hired a new greens keeper. Fingers crossed they can quickly get the course back into shape.
I find this course to be the best in the area.
I enjoy playing this course, it is challenging and can give the everyday player that exciting moment when the birdie is made.
I recommend this course to all players. The staff will treat you like a close friend and the pro shop has all you need for a great day of golf.
Needs serious work
We love this course and play weekly but are sad about the continued decline. The greens are horrible bumpy and full of crab grass. The fairways are half deserts and the t boxes have no grass. We are now looking to.play elsewhere and it won't be Sugarmill as it is worse.
Dreadful condition
Having played here twice before, we assumed it would be fine, but we were the only couple playing and I found out why. The fairways were awful and in need of rolling, water and grass. The greens were full of weeds, patches, plugs of sand and seed and reminded me of trying to putt on a home made putt putt course. Nothing rolled true or straight and this was a $15 round at best, but unless it improves drastically, then it's days are numbered.
Great Experience
I want to thank the owner (Scott) and the staff of Citrus National for their efforts to make this golf course a great experience. There have been many improvements over the past year that enhance the golfing experience. I like the improvements all around the course. There is a lot to be proud of…..thank you!
Needs work
Tee boxes, fairways, rough were burnt. Greens had recently been aerated and had weeds growing. Apparently they hired a new grounds keeper so he has his work cut out. It was in better shape a few months ago when I played there. Bartender was nice. Golf carts were fine. Free range balls and nice practice area.
Course needs rain looking like a desert and greens are very bad putts bounce and change direction.
Getting better
Greens and traps were in very good shape. Greens had recently been aerated, and fresh sand added to traps. Tees and fairways still need some TLC and water. Pace of play was excellent at 3 hrs.
Surprised
This is a great course, one of the best I’ve played. However it was really rough today, greens had jut been punched, and dry conditions had browned most of the fairways.
This course needs rain and the hurricane coming in two days will deliver that. I believe in a few weeks it will be in good shape.
Thanks for the 3 rating. Sorry to say, we were more like a 1 rating back in September.
New Superintendent has us green again and the crabgrass on greens is GONE!!
