Nice place to get away.
Great layout. Open fairways and east to play
Greens were in good shape a little fast but true.
Fairways needs some work but we've had little rain to help the problem. TBox's needs work, a easy fix when the heat lets up and we get some rain
Affordable price and N/C for range balls.
We enjoy playing here and will be back soon, friendly people at front desk
Enjoyable place to play. Staff is great
The staff at the golf course is fantastic. The golf course is fun to play.
Not what I was expecting
They told me in the pro shop they lost part of their sprinkler system. The tea boxes in fairways were all but a few very bad. There was no water in the water coolers on the course. 2 foot off the fairways. Some of the grass was 6 inches tall. All the bunkers had a little rocks in them so I do not think it was worth $53. Very disappointing.
Love Citrus National
This is a public course with a members only feel to it. The staff has always been top notch and the free access to range balls and practice amenities have me showing up an hour early before every round. The course itself it challenging and well maintained. This review is July ‘23, and while most courses either in disrepair or just slacked off on because snowbirds are gone, Citrus National has quick greens, grassed fairways, and cold water coolers.
On a side note, I lost a putter there last week (don’t ask me how I still have no idea) and the next day they called and told me they had found it. I know that doesn’t sound like a big deal, but I lost a club at Silverthorn once and the starter laughed and told me to check EBay for it. Citrus is in a class of their own and I hope you enjoy this course as much as I do.
Need rain!
Greens are in decent shape. Tees and fairways are dry and brown. Course layout is challenging and fun. Getting rain will elevate this course to the top 5 in Citrus county.
Roughs need some work
I love this course, and I know with the rain we've been getting the grass is growing fast. With that said they need to mow the rough more often. We had a hard time finding balls 3 feet offthe fairway. Until I can keep my balls in the fairway please keep the rough a bit lower.
Nice course.
The course overall is pretty nice. The greens are maintained nicely. The only issues we found were that some of the fairways had some tall grass and sand right in the middle.
All it would take is a little mowing early in the morning to fix this but in the day we played the fairways could have been much better. We paid 30$ and thought it was definitely worth it. Their normal rate is 40-50$ which is way too high in my opinion. I would not pay that. There were some pretty long par 4’s as well. It is challenging.
Not worth the money
The staff were wonderful, very friendly. However, the course is in very bad shape. It was like the greens in the fairways in the rough had not been mowed in over two weeks. Honestly, this was like a $10 golf course. If you have a chance to play elsewhere I would.
Could be a very good course just needs taken care of!
Me and my father played the golf course on Father’s Day. We looked and seen that it was rated 4.0 on GolfNow. We are scratching our heads as to how it could possibly be a 4.0. Two boxes were very bear the fairways for plush with large amounts of weeds. And it’s like it has not been mowed in over two weeks. The greens which had been punched, or the best part of the golf course besides the people. The golf course overall was very poor in my opinion, but the people in the clubhouse were fantastic. Definitely not worth the money. In my comparison it is a sister course to Oak Hill in Spring Hill at most a $15 course.
A little disappointed
Have played the course several times over the past year, and had hoped to see improvements. They are trying to bring some tee boxes back with new sod, but teeing off on sand a lot.
Greens were aerified two weeks ago, but top dresser machine broke so sand wasn’t applied for two weeks, and it shows.
Will probably take a pause and give them more time.
