Where have you gone
Let me start off by saying this is one of the best layouts around. I used to play here a lot when it was semi private, and it was always one of the best kept secrets. I read some recent reviews saying that they were working hard to get the course back to what it used to be, but I have to say I just don’t see it. Fairways were decent, but the tea boxes were basically sand bunkers. The greens were hard to decipher from the fairway. It’s like they added bunkers in the middle of the greens as there were often times more sand than grass. The vast majority of the course is filled with weeds. The one great positive is that there was absolutely nobody out there so pace of play was excellent.
Significantly improved
Has been 3 months since I played this course. The transformation of the conditions is excellent. Greens are good to fair. 2/3 of the greens are very good, the rest are a work in progress. Most of the fairways are green and grassy, tees a mix of grass and sand. Bunkers are all good. Decent pace at 3.5 hrs.
On the mend
If you haven’t played Citrus in a while because of their conditions, you can be happy to know that they are working their butts of to get it back to being playable. I was out there 8 months ago and it was a complete disaster. I then played this last Monday, and the improvements are REALLY great to see. It’s still not what it used to be and it has to more to go, but I can already tell this place will be great by October or November.
Great Value
Course has gone under recent repair and they reopened it and it played very nicely. Just a few greens and tee boxes fixed away from perfect. For the price it’s well worth it! Love the layout of this course glad to have it back
Major improvement implemented
Greens, tees and fairways are significantly improved. Major renovations were implemented the past month. The rainy season will continue to green up the course.
Getting Better
You can see them working hard to improve this course. I heard that they will be closed all of May to really full on rehab this course. Excited to see it back in its tip top shape again. Definitely one of my favorite courses in the area.
Course conditions are improving
Greens are decent, some patchy areas that will green up soon. Tees and fairways need water. Pace was excellent at 3 hrs. Good value. Staff is super.
greens and fairway in poor condition
this coarse is nice to play but the fairways and the green were terrible . Need lots of work. no grass lots of sand .
Nothing but excuses
Getting tired of hearing, “Their working on it”. Now if they hired the greens keeper from the Sahara Desert I would understand completely and if that’s the fact he’s doing a wonderful job! But I’m more to believe that the owner is keeping it as crappy as possible so at tax time he can claim it as a loss. The guy behind the counter was very nice and the cart worked but that’s it, really that’s it. This course isn’t worth $10 bucks, SAVE YOUR MONEY!
On the rebound
Just played here today, the course was in pretty rough condition but looked to be on the rebound. New grass popping up everywhere, looks like they were killing weeds. Can’t wait to come back in a few months
Too Bad
It’s too bad the condition of this course has deteriorated so much. When we first played this course a few years ago we were thrilled with the design and condition. Now it isn’t worth the time or the money. Unfortunately.

Shameful
This course was great until the last year. Owners should pay u to play. I seen many courses in my life ,but this is absolutely the WORSE !!!! I've very seen. Go bowling ,go fishing go do anything but play this trash.
SHAME ON OWNERS FOR LETTING THIS COURSE RUN DOWN.
Cheaper Cabot
This course is exactly like Cabot expect for 1/20 of the cost. Sand was everywhere making it challenging especially on the greens. Really loved the new mulch they are putting in really makes you forget about everything else! Can’t wait to see what they work on next but definitely will be back
This course sucks!
I paid $50 to play this course that wouldn't even be suited as a sheep pasture. I should've asked for a refund, but I knew that wouldn't happen. They're is no way this track will ever be a destination for golf as it would have to be completely killed off and replanted before it could be considered playable.
Last time I played there (about a month ago) staff told me they were going to close it for about a month in April to replant (they apparently just hit with herbiside to kill off the weeds). Here's to hoping that it comes back in good shape -- it's a nice layout, in my opinion.
Citrus national
Tee boxes were mostly sand, hard to hit par threes. Fairways are coming back except in middle, seems like they are trying, several water sprinklers on. Hit numerous drives down middle and got sand splash no roll at all. Greens are coming back, they are working hard to get course right. Maybe try again next year.
