About
Surrounded by 200 acres of carefully preserved wetlands, the Groves Golf & Country Club offers championship golf in a spectacular setting. It sits conveniently just 20 minutes north of Tampa in Land O Lakes. Maintaining the natural beauty of the landscape was a top priority when designing the golf course, which is why the layout manages to seamlessly blend into the surroundings. The course, which measures 4,026 yards, offers all of the challenging qualities of a championship-length course but can be played in four hours or less. The player-friendly golf course offers something for all skill levels whether you are a scratch golfer looking for a quick round, or a beginner looking for some challenging practice. In addition to the course, The Groves also boasts a unique aqua driving range as well as putting and chipping greens.

Spectacular!
Shh....don't tell the world, but this course is the BEST in their area!

Meh ..
Bald tee boxes, growth on fairways, greens not rolled over, cracked range balls .. On top of which a couple of holes were under construction. The course is short as it is - In addition to that there was a hole that they have materially shortened since otherwise the balls hit houses.
Suffice it to say this is the last time I go there.

Short course
Excellent short course. If you need to practice your short game, you’re long to your intermediate irons, this is the course to play at. Excellent excellent excellent will play again.

Meh
I’m not sure I get it. People seem to be raving about the course conditions. The Teebox is a bald. There is growth on the fairways and greens. Haven’t even been rolled over. The sand traps look nice and the course layout seems interesting. But unlikely I’m going to return

Memorial Day at the Groves
Most of the course was in great condition, the greens were arrayed two weeks ago and a bit bumpy still.
2 tee boxes were under sod repair but playable.

1st staff member we met, in the check in area / office was unwelcoming and hard to deal with. Short with us as new members and we feel he was annoyed we took him away from his conversation with another after we walked in. Lady at whole one, who worked there was very inviting and nice each time we saw her throughout the day. Would recommend this place for a close and inexpensive course to play at. Watch out for the 8ft gator that likes to Sun bath at hole 12....

Conditions for the season
I gave it four stars due to the greens conditions at this time. May 22nd '23. They've irrated the greens.
This helps the greens for the next three seasons.
We got 20% off for this reason. So, we knew what we were in for when we played.
Normally, I'm playing December thru April.
Conditions are good in December, January, & February and greens are great. January, February, & March the fairways are good but start getting matted down towards March and April. Obviously, grass growth is dormant during the Winter.
Overall I love this course. I play once a week during the Winter months.

Aeration Did Not Matter
While a 20% discount was applied by the course for the greens being aerated, the course played wonderful. The aeration on the greens barely effected putting. This is a wonderful course to play, independent of aeration.

Solid course to get your fix
Although this course is not long, it is great if you want to work your short game along with your irons. Greens were recently aerated but the rest do the course was a solid condition.

Slow Play
Had a 1pm tee time, no one showed so ended up playing with a 2 person group at 110pm, got to the turn and everything was stacked up, 3 some in front of me, 4 some in front of them, so i made it to 11th hole and turned around and left as it was extremely slow, due to course closure starting today and assuming everyone wanted to play.. Wish i would have know prior to booking.
