Nice Track as Always
Love this course. One of the prettiest layouts for a public course in south FL. Beautiful tee boxes and fairways. Wish I could say the same for the greens...Practice green is fantastic but the on course greens are sandy. They may have aerated recently. The card and tee box stones showed Blue back tees but they were not there. We played the whites and they seemed to be the back tees. All the way at the back of the furthest box. Very tough in the wind today. Starter gave us so much information but didn't mention anything about the Blue tees being gone and the whites tees taking their place. We didn't realize it until a few holes into the round so just stayed there but should have moved to the Black. Crushing drives into the wind and still having 175+ into par 4's is a tough way for average golfers to play. Had beverage cart and snack bar open at the turn. Great amenities and service. Starter should explain that before you tee off.
Course it self was very good. They could do a better job with the lawn maintenance, just for looks did not affect play. Course was not well drained. As a result, the entire was cart path only. This made for a very slow day. It took extra time for elderly people play their game and just made for a longer day all around. I’d try it again.

Challenging but fair
It's a long course but on a windy day, when the turf is very wet, it really makes it feel so much longer than it actually is. (My pride prevented me from going to the gold tee box.) So I played from the black tee. There was still a white tee farther back and the blue tee farthest back. I failed to follow my own advice that everyone should enjoy the round of golf at the length that allows you to be REASONABLY challenged. The course provides really good options for you to adjust the challenge to YOUR game!
Great layout and great condition and great staff ( at every level).
Overall, the condition of the course was excellent. The greens were in great shape and consistent. I found them to be fairly easy to read. (they were not tricky).
Looking forward to visiting again.
Winston Trails - sucks
I booked a tee time online and received 2 separate confirmation times, one at time of booking and one the day prior to my scheduled round. I got to the course early, paid and the gentleman in the Pro Shop said we could probably head over to the starter early and tee off a few minutes early. Also, found out that we had to share a golf cart. Not a good idea with social distancing.
So we get to the starter booth only to get yelled at because we were early. I explained that we were told to start earlier. So the starter tells us we will have to wait. Apparently the starter was putting multiple groups out ahead of us who did not have tee times. I showed him my confirmed and paid for time and he told me I wasn't on the tee sheet until 10:30, this after I already had a confirmed time for 10:15. He put his friends out before us and would not take any responsibility for his error. I finally got to the first tee at 10:50 and of course had to wait on every shot due to his putting so many people ahead of us. They overbook, give your confirmed tee time away, and play favorites with their friends. DO NOT BOOK HERE
Over all
Great layouts, needs a little more maintenance otherwise great course .
It only takes 1 or 2 people.
My review is this period I got 3 to 4 times a week all year long. So I'm a palm beach county golfer. I show up to the driving range to see what they described as greens for targets... It's just 3 giant sand traps. I go over to put around 7:00 p.m.. The Sun crept down under the talest trees but you can still see for 300 yards... The 1st time I was approached by the high school range attendant, he had said the putting green closes when it gets dark and gave me 15 more minutes to pot around. Then to flex on me some more, I go over to the chipping green and he comes back over for a 2nd time and tells me that also closes "at dark." Before all of this I'm just told you can only pay in cash for the balls. During Covid. 3800 people were notified as being infected that day (June 18th). OK too much let me sum it up I come back the next day for a Friday afternoon match with my buddies who I have to share a cart with... No more do they allow One person to a cart. But don't worry.. they shoved a plastic divider in the middle of the cart to ensure nobody sneezes on you... the old man at the starter desk is a piece of work too. No thanks. Didnt even bother for a rain check when it poured on us on the 6th hole... not going bacm anytime in the near future. 2 people to a cart. HA. 3800 people reported, C-19 spreading faster then it did in March and they dont want to clean double the amount of carts every night. What a shame. These people sre employed and all they want to do is go home. Unreasonably delinquent these people. Never in my life have i typed this many words for a review. NEVER. but all this winey sh## needed to be said. Only good thing about the place is the price to golf is cheap... like there Service !!!
Greens were a little didn’t match the practice greens and bumpy on the course
Coarse is in good shape but the greens are slow
I hadn't played this course in over a year because the greens were in terrible shape. The greens are now in good shape, but they putt SLOW. I find that most of the public courses I play have a fairly uniform speed. It took several holes to adjust to the slow greens and even after 18 hole, I still left more putts short than long. The rough is also cut higher than most other courses, and the ball would disappear in the deep grass. I had a very bad day driving the ball, so I was in the rough a lot. The fairways were in great shape,. The bunkers were in good shape. The course has a very nice layout. Water comes into play on many holes. The staff was friendly and pro shop personnel wore masks. I would have enjoyed the round more if I could have kept my drives in the fairway..
Great course & condition, definitely lacking in virus protection
Winston Trails is in excellent condition, course & greens. My only and major problem was an overwhelming lack of sanitization and protection at this time. It is the only course I'm aware of (right now), that has an open putting green...GREAT, BUT, people were on top of one another and very few worse masks). IN FACT the guys working outside were no wearing masks and when I mentioned it to the employee trying to find me a cart (all being used) he said "you don't have to wear a mask outside". And the cart...they took someones bag and items out and then told me to take the cart...BUT, not sanitized.
I loved the course and i will go back at a future time, but not until things change. I could go on and on, but it's useless. In a nutshell, "the care they took under these very difficult conditions was insulting."
