Atlantic National Golf Club
About
Formerly known as Grand Lacuna Golf Club, this par-71 championship course now goes by the name Atlantic National Golf Club. Designed in the late 1980s by Joe Lee, the course was designated one of the 50 best public courses in Florida. The challenging layout has plenty of variety that will require all different types of shots. Golfers will find that they need to use every club in their bag. Water hazards come into play on several holes but the strategically placed bunkers that lurk along the greensides and fairways are particularly tricky. There are some tough holes but it is an accommodating layout for all skill levels, especially since it has four diverse sets of tees. In addition to the golf course, Atlantic National offers a grass driving range, two putting greens, and a chipping area with a practice bunker.

Golfer Reviews
Great layout for a shorter course
Overall the course is in good shape. Greens could be faster. They are pretty slow compared to other courses in the area. Always a fun track.
Tee boxes and greens in rough shape
Tee boxes and greens definitely need some TLC. We have enough sand to contend with in South Florida.
Another great experience at Atlantic National
This course is always in great condition. The staff was friendly and helpful but slightly unorganized. A guy was moving the range ropes while I was hitting a few balls. The starter was frustrated by two groups having times only four minutes apart. It was still a great round. Course conditions and pace of play were excellent.
Good value golf
The course has a good layout, pace of play good as well. The fairways need some watering - not as much grass as should have, but otherwise a good day of golf for sure.
Pace of play ruined what was otherwise a good course to play
The layout is good, conditions have recovered from the aeration and the greens, and fairways were good. Tees still need some time to recover, but the tees were playable.
We teed off close to noon and played the first 6-holes in about an hour. We caught up to some people around 5 or 6. When I came off seven green there were FOUR groups on number eight (par three) - one on green, one waiting on the tee, another waiting at the corner, then us. It was literally 25 minutes before I was able to hit my tee shot.
Unfortunately - it did not get much better the rest of the round Twice we had to wait for two groups to tee off, counting the wait to tee off, it took about 45 minutes to play the par five 14th ... and not a ranger in sight to do anything or attempt to do anything. Suffice to say we all were very frustrated by the time we finished, our golf suffered, and several people we saw left and went in.
Everything about the place was good to very good - including the starter and pro shop staff and practice facilities, but one of the worst pace of play experiences I've ever had, and they seemed to not care. I am not a local, but because of the horrendous pace of play we experienced, I can not recommend this course unless the staff shows they care and at least attempt to do something.
Course is very playable and challenging
We have been playing Atlantic National for quite some time and find it always in great condition! It is challenging and gives us a run for our $$$$ and it keeps us coming back for more! Our group highly recommends this course!
First time here!
Conditions were much better than some reviews in previous days suggested. Green’s role very smooth, fairways, rough and tee boxes all had good surfaces and plenty of fluff in the grass. Never saw an alligator or T-Rex, but looked on every hole! So, you’re safe! Would definitely play here again. Has a great range and two areas for putting. Staff was pretty busy and did not treat anyone rude. I doubt anyone would be disappointed here. Its overall condition is definitely worth the fee. Much better than expected from some reviews.
Atlantic National Golf Club – A Golfer's Gem Worth Every Stroke
Atlantic National Golf Club delivered a truly enjoyable round from start to finish. The course layout keeps you on your toes, with well-placed bunkers throughout that reward smart course management and punish wayward shots. It's the kind of challenge that makes the round memorable.
The fairways are in excellent condition — lush, consistent, and clearly well-maintained. The greens had just been aerated before my visit, which I knew going in, but I was genuinely impressed by how well they held up. For freshly aerated surfaces, they played surprisingly true and remained very much in good shape. A minor note — a few of the tee boxes could use some attention, as they showed a bit of wear. That's the only thing keeping this course from a perfect score.
What really stood out beyond the course itself was the experience around it. The Starter is fantastic — personable, organized, and clearly takes pride in keeping things moving. Tee times are well-spaced, so you're never stuck waiting between holes. That kind of pace-of-play management makes a huge difference. The clubhouse is beautiful, and the service throughout was warm and attentive.
Overall Grade: A-
Atlantic National is a course I'd recommend without hesitation. Come ready to play, and you'll leave wanting to come back.
Could have been better
Not a bad track. Unfortunately the greens were punched a few weeks ago and were slow and bumpy . Some tee boxes in rough shape. Don’t think I should have been charged fulll price due to the subpar conditions. Will I go back maybe.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE
First time playing this course in a few years. the course was not in very good shape Some of the tee boxes were mostly just dirt The fairways were very dried out The greens were impossible to put on They were recently aerated very bumpy Management should inform you that they aerated before you book or pay will not go back
Punched Greens, fairways and teeboxes
This course is really bad shape after recent aeration. Staff was rude at check in. I’d give this one at least a month to recover
