First off at Rocky Bayou
Played under 2:15 with a small rain delay. Conditions are very good! Greens soft and consistent, a tad slow . Bunkers raked and in good shape, fairways 99%., a few tons of weed and feed in the rough and this could be a premier track. Layout feature 3-4 great holes, a bit vanilla. Range irons only, putting green under construction. They are trying real hard, it shows.. worth the drive, nice value for $$
Excellent Course
This is a great course. From the friendly staff the the great condition of the facilities. Complimentary range balls were a welcome surprise. The practice facility major improvements are underway. Large inviting fairways reward a well placed drive. Hitting GIR does not guarantee a sub par score. The undulating greens reward a well placed approach, and make you think two shots ahead. Greens roll true and the ball will stick if you hit the correct spot. Hit the wrong spot and you have a lot of work to do. Definitely play this course when you can.
Great value play
I went for the $29 twilight. First time, course is beautiful, but relatively East.
Amenities Terrible bring a stocked cooler
When playing golf in summer and its 90 degrees most days we like to play early. Majority of courses don’t allow a personal cooler So we didn’t even bother bringing ours. Huge mistake! Get to course 7am gonna load up beverages. Pro-shop explains they don’t open snack bar until 10am. They didn’t even have a drink $2 drink machine on the property anywhere. Only thing they had was hot bottled water placed out on 3 or 4 holes around the course. I’ve played golf
going on 30 years now, never seen a course not have a snack bar open when the course opens. Course was nice and greens good shape. Had to give 3 stars due to no drinks issue.
Great course
For the value one of the best courses in the area by far.
Relaxing Day
Enjoyed 36. holes of golf. Course in excellent shape. Weather was not to hot,
Good play for price
Course waa in overall pretty good condition, although the greens could have been better (they had been punched what looks like a few weeks earlier). Plenty of options for tee selection for seniors and youth. Course is pretty strait forward with tree lined fairways that will punish tee shots to far off line.
Rocky review
Good fair layout. Greens had be aerated but still fine. Blue tees were fair but challenging. Great value.
Summer vacation
Great golf for the money, majority of holes are repetitive layout, some scenery with water on a few holes, would definitely come back again
Excellent tract.
Loved everything about the course. The rolling terrain, wide fairways and smooth putting services.
Excellent course, great price.
About a 45 minute drive...but well worth it! Great course, in great condition...18 holes with cart for 35.00, can’t beat that.
Special thank you to Barbara (think this is her name)...she was in the pro shop and got me set up to play...made me feel like I was at my home club.
Also a shout out to Ryan, the young man who helped with my cart, thanks for the lift to my r tree i know after the round.
This is a beautiful mature private course in excellent condition that has some picturesque water holes...and excellent greens.
Thank for a great round and friendly staff.

One of my favorite courses
This is an old course but very well maintained. It is designed by the great Earl Stone of Mobile Alabama.. I play every course I find his name on because it is designed for the everyday golfer. Rocky Bayou is one of his masterpieces. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the greens are exceptional and the layout is challenging but fair. If you are visiting the Gulf Coast in the Destin/Ft Walton area and want to enjoy a round of golf this is the place.
Nice Course, Not Nice Ladies’ League
Great price, very nice course. We would play this course again. Six of us played, early tee time. Had the course to ourselves. Parking lot was empty. We tee’d off as a six-some; why not? The course was empty.
However, on the fourth hole tee box, a member of the Rocky Bayou Board — she told us right away when she rolled up — said that the womens’ league was teeing off on the first tee box soon. She said she couldn’t have us playing six at a time. We all looked back a few holes — empty. We looked ahead a hole— nobody. We all looked back at her. She looked at us. Waiting. Because we are nice, we said we would split into two 3’s. It’s her course, clearly. So be carfule out there.
Outstanding
What a wonderful golf course this is. The greens had undulations and rolled really well. The fairways, bunkers and tee boxes were great. The landscaping is some of the best that I have ever seen at a golf course. Great place to play!
Pace of play was dreadful
I play this course often because it’s in good condition and a really fun and challenging layout. Today I teed off at 10:30. It wasn’t that busy but I guess we were playing behind the last group of the members gaggle. The pace of play was terrible. At one point there were 3 groups waiting on the 12 tee box. I guess before booking a tee time I’ll ask what time the gaggle is playing to try and avoid being stuck behind them. On the bright side, The Course is in good condition and greens roll really nice.
Sandy Greens
I've played Rocky 5 times since April, it's always green and grass everywhere. Not sure why they keep dumping sand on the greens, first couple times I played they were perfect, but since they aerated them they always have sand in spots, more area with sand than not. . Still roll well without bumps. Would like it better if the whole green was sanded rather than spots, creates inconsistency. Chipping areas, tee boxes and fairways are nice. Great value and generally not crowded during the week. I like that from the back tees the par 3's play 190-185-195-220. They also provide bottled water every 4-5 holes. Definitely worth playing this course.
