Good course, awful customer service
Our 'experience' began with our friends being asked to leave the grounds because they showed up more than an hour before our tee time. They arrived at 11:10 for our 12:18 tee time. They were asked to leave the grounds until the 'appointed hour' by the security guard. With the exception of the bag drop staff, we found the attitude of ALL other employees to be, at best, indifferent, but mostly unwelcoming. We wanted to meet for lunch (hence the early arrival) but we could only eat outside as indoor dining is reserved for members. This is a private country club that appears to enjoy the additional revenue from the outside public, but not the presence of the players themselves.
We have played at many of Southwest Florida's private courses, and Forest Glen is the exception to the usual friendly and welcoming attitude in the area.
The course itself is well laid out, in good condition, with the greens true, albeit not fast.
Play somewhere else, where you will feel welcome, not as an intruder.
Nice layout. Great conditions. Will play here again.
Challenging
The course is in great shape. It also is very challenging, especially from the gold tees. You definitely need to be in the right position off the tee to play your shots into the green. The greens are fairly fast, especially downhill puts which are numerous with the undulating green. I enjoy playing this course whenever I can.
Pace of play and very unprofessional Marshal
One star mostly for terrible pace of play. Teed off 15 minutes earlier than scheduled behind other Golf Now foursome. We were a Golf Now foursome as well. Early afternoon round took 4:35 minutes. Was starting to be dark when done. Marshal came by on hole no. 5 and suggested to take our time as it was slow play. Being members of a private club back North we did expect pace to be slow in the afternoon but not 4:35 minutes. We expected a max of 4:00 for a PM round in South Florida. Really nice course, unable to enjoy. Suggestion: in spite of great deal at 79.00 take your money else where or try and get an AM starting time as pace of play should be better.
Fantastic
What a great course. Wunderfull fairways and great, fast greens. Friendly staff. It was great to play this fantastic course. Would play it again any time
Bring your plastic
Course was nice but this is the only place in the world that I have been, that doesn't take cash the reason was at the pro shop is they don't trust workers with cash
Simply a must play course!
Rating speak for themselves, amazing course and a must play. Great value for the money!
Very challenging, but fair. Excellent condtions. Would be extremely difficult from back tees, play up from normal and have great time.
Excellent course condition - pristine
Impressed with the friendly staff , beautiful views on the course as you play - some homes , condos but some nice natural vegetation. Greens were in great shape. Now here is the one negative. For a golf purist about 4 of the holes had tricked up small landing areas off the tee or no look greens or hidden water , hidden sand traps —- nothing terrible but as a first time player to this course it took some of the enjoyment out of it for me - but even with that small negative — its a fun course to play !
Excellent condition and challenging.
Impressed with the course conditions. Front nine challenging, back nine is easier.
Great gated golf course
Forest Glen is a gated private club with occasional Golfnow guests. By all means, play this course. It is the best conditioned course you can play in Naples. Perfect grass everywhere, tees, fairway, rough and greens. .Water hazards and saw grass are on every hole, but no housing.. It is very challenging if you hit it slightly sidewise; plenty of water and saw grass sides to consume numerous balls. But if you can drive it straight, you will enjoy Forest Glen.
Getting to the green is half of your task
This Arthur Hills design offers challenges for strong and intermediate golfers from tees to greens. Tees, fairways greens and rough are each and all in top shape. Greens are large, fast and have lots of movement. On the day I played greens were running about 11 to 11.5 on the Stimpmeter. Marshalsl enforced pace of play.
Bunkers are well groomed and some are long while others are deep. Water hazards are a problem for errant shots on several holes, despite somewhat low levels of water.
Staff is helpful, pleasant and visible.
The course is very close to exit 101 off of I-75.
I don’t know about the rest of the world, but in Naples virtually no private clubs accept cash. Even some of the public courses do not. It has nothing to do with untrustworthy employees.
