Because of construction there was a burn pile fire that made it hard to breath for a couple of holes...

This course is really beautiful and very fair. The people at the course were very friendly. I will play this again when I come back next year.
Wide Open
The course is ok. Most of the fairways are so wide, that there isn't much of a challange. Even a high handicapper would like some degree of difficulty. It is almost impossibe to loose a ball. Im not a scratch golfer, Im a 10 handicap, but the course is so boring, it needs to be re resigned. There is nothing memorable about the experience here.

Very wide open course with large tough greens. The course and greens are in excellent shape. Best in the area. Pace can be a little slow. Fun course to play, well worth it.
As good as reputed
Sarasota National was as good as expected with a friendly staff at every part of the day from check in , a friendly starter, to lunch , and friendly and efficient bag boys. The day was our final round in Florida and it was perfect.
Do not waste your money a lot of better options around
I had heard so much about this course and was really disappointed for the high price/low value...The cart guys, counter guy and starter was great....and they had multiple bricks and mortar staff on duty....but no ranger....We waited on every shot to complete a 4:50 minute round....The fairway and rough looked like it had been cut by a grammar school two weeks earlier and the traps had not been trimmed out ?...since Christmas ..The green were in good shape .....Needless to say will not return until they get some snew o Ethan can do Course management....Focus seems to be all bricks and mortar...but had minimal members around??????
Not a value play
I found this course to be challenging in the form of very fast undulating greens and very difficult bunkers. The pins are always on a crown making it overly difficult to stop a missed putt. We found the bunkers inconsistent, some fluff and others firm and grainy, all very steep on the hole side making it hard to advance the ball. The fairways are spacious, level and treeless for the most part. There are lots of tee boxes to choose from, overall length is 7330 yds.
Overall environment includes lots of home construction and infrastructure nearby. Hazards are not a big issue here it’s the chipping and putting that’s gonna getcha.

Good course if you can get a deal. $80-$95 a round is way too much. $50-$60 is the right price.
Love this course
I love this course every time I play it. challenging, but extremely playable. It is my favorite Venice-area course.
The greens were superb: smooth as a billiard table , quite fast, but would hold a pitch shot.
my only complaint was that the roughs were not rough. Perhaps because they were dry, but there was no real penalty for landing in the roughs.
A Fun Day
Probably the best greens in the greater Sarasota area. Good selection of tees to meet your cap. Very friendly staff. Very wide open but large greens.
Excellent course, excellent value
Staff is friendly, pace was pretty good for the busy season and overall experience was excellent. Will definitely be back!!
