Golf Club At South Hampton
About
The Golf Club at South Hampton was designed to give every golfer appropriate risk-and-reward opportunities that supply both encouragement to beginners and challenges for more advanced players. The slope and contour of the course’s landscape is its trademark with strategic mounding and over 60 contoured bunkers that emphasize the terrain’s natural undulations. The course features rolling fairways and massive greens. There are also sixteen large lakes that come into play throughout. The signature hole is the tremendous par-5, 17th, which is a scenic hole that features a lake, fairway bunkers, and a breaking green. Although the course is a challenge, there are six sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

Front 9 greens under repair
I'm a fan of this place and I played there are several times and really enjoy the place. Glad they're investing in repairing the front nine greens but just be advised he's not there before it's not going to be pretty.
Usually great but in repair now
The greens are being worked on now, this place is usually amazing but it’s undergoing some work now to get it back in its glory
There has to be a way
First off, shoutout to South Hampton for having adjusted prices while some of the greens are recovering. Now onto the primary objective:
To the young lady who I was paired with: college is by far the easiest phase of your life. If you’re struggling now, wait until half of your monthly salary is going towards not being homeless. That being said, don’t ever book a tee time again until you can consistently hit the ball 75 yards on the fly, like the toddlers at the kids camp were (another shoutout to the other playing partner who had the awareness to make you play from the toddler tees, to which you struggled mightily)
To her BF and Dad if they see this: don’t allow her to do this again. Golf is a last refuge for a lot of guys, and the last thing we want is some inexperienced hack not knowing where she’s supposed to tee off from. We could have raised Helen Keller from the dead, given her a ChatGPT chip and some HGH and my money woulda been on Helen, based on what I was forced to witness.
Club Course Update
This review is for the intent of club admin to provide everyone with updated course pictures and information pertaining to the current course conditions. We are allotted 6 pictures to post on this forum so we are providing an assortment of a couple good greens, a couple of ok greens, and a couple of our worst greens. We invite everyone to follow us on our Facebook page as we are providing full weekly updates of all 18 greens. We are aware of the issues the club has had over the last couple of months, but these issues are being rectified and the course is much improved. These issues have been well documented on our Facebook page for all to see as well. Our intention is to continue the hard work and to keep everyone as informed as we can.
We thank everyone for their strong support and cant wait to see you at the club soon!!
Cow pasture for greens
Not worth playing. Tees and fairways were in good condition. Greens were HORRIBLE. Greens were like putting in a cow pasture.
Horrible greens.
Layout of course is great. Unfortunately, the greens are in horrible condition. Again, horrible condition. They put some patchwork grass on some greens, that makes it worse. The patchwork grass is like putting on shag carpet. Will not play again. Go somewhere else.
Rough Greens
The greens are a total mess right now. Most need to be tore out and redone
Greens in recovery
The greens are in recovery due to the summer drought. But course was really nice.
Fun course, horrible condition
The greens are unplayable. Sand, patches of sod and thin grass coverage makes the greens an absolute joke. Dont play here for more than $30
Price Per Course Conditions
Very disappointing greens on the front nine. Course should have lowered the price of a round due to these conditions. On the positive side, I guess word got out because the course was much emptier. So it normally takes 4.5 to 5 hours because this course always overbooks, but due to the conditions it only took just less than 4 hours. Course greens should be back to normal in about two months.
Updated Greens Pictures
This summer has been a tough one for the club, we have battled an extremely rare case of Bermudagrass Mites, disease caused by the mites with the weaker turf, and drought early in the summer when this was happening.
If you haven't been out in the last week or so, the rain and advanced treatments that we have been doing for the last several weeks have really changed everything about the greens conditions. We have also completed turf replacement on the greens with the largest issues and this new turf is coming in nicely. We are currently posting weekly updates with pictures of all 18 greens on our Facebook page for all to see what is really happening at the club. We encourage all to stay up to date with this as we look forward to a return to our normal playing conditions.
In this post we have provided a mix of the 6 images that we are allowed to post so that all can see where we stand. For the other pics, we will refer everyone to our Facebook page.
We thank everyone for their support and look forward to seeing everyone soon!
DO NOT PLAY
Without exaggerating these are the worse greens I have played in Northeast Florida in my last 10 years. I am a golf instructor in the area and could not believe how Terrible the conditions were. Pukeable. Multiple craters of sand on a few of the greens. Play any other course off of highway 210 but do not play here
Great course
Despite the rainy season the course was in excellent shape.
There were a few greens with new sod so it's good they were proactive to replace drought damaged areas.
Nice mix of long and short holes.
Would definitely recommend.
Destroyed Greens
Was pretty excited to play SH and following a big rain storm I expected a soggy course. What I found was a course that was layed out well, nice grassy tee boxes, well kept fairways and greens that were beyond destroyed. It’s sad that a full price was charged. Over 60% of the greens have some sort of surgical procedure going on. Nothing you can do but hit the green and take two. Course should really put some temporary greens out and allow the original greens to come back. Disappointing.
Greens
Unfortunately, they have lost the greens. Not sure what happened but the greens are…2 putt max! Overseed them and get through the winter, then rebuild them. The facility is a money maker , so to the owner(s) …do it!
Who did this to you? Please share
Dear South Hampton, please tell us who was this mean to you, they deserve to be called out. I’ve seen ridges on chips but never on greens. This course was in the worst shape in 10 years. I’ve always held S. Hampton in my top 3 places to play in this area of Florida and I was ashamed to take friends there. Also haven’t been able to book a tee time for almost 18 month before 1pm. Who is playing here consistently enough and enjoying it. I won’t be playing there again for $80 weekday rates.
Pictures dont lie…some strong comments here that are just not even close to the truth…good luck in your golfing endeavors…everything is up front on our facebook page…
This post is complete bovine scat! These greens have sucked for the last two years at least. In addition, no two sand traps are alike in terms of type or depth of sand. And if you are lucky enough to find a rake in a sand trapped, it’s likely to be broken. There are also clumps of grass on the tea boxes and around the greens. These guys need to sell this course to somebody like the owner who recently bought Cimarrone across the street who actually cares about Golf.
