Golf Club At South Hampton
About
The Golf Club at South Hampton was designed to give every golfer appropriate risk-and-reward opportunities that supply both encouragement to beginners and challenges for more advanced players. The slope and contour of the course’s landscape is its trademark with strategic mounding and over 60 contoured bunkers that emphasize the terrain’s natural undulations. The course features rolling fairways and massive greens. There are also sixteen large lakes that come into play throughout. The signature hole is the tremendous par-5, 17th, which is a scenic hole that features a lake, fairway bunkers, and a breaking green. Although the course is a challenge, there are six sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

Greens are hurting
it was like having sand bunkers on the greens and railroad tracks. Probably the worse greens in the Jacksonville area.
Worst Greens I've Played
I play at least once a week and it has been 2 months since I last played South Hampton, which is typically in pretty consistently good condition. Well something drastically happened as 80% of the greens were literally the worst condition I have ever experienced. Burnt out and covered in sand. It is an odd sight when you land a wedge right next to the flag stick and you see sand fly into the air. Hopefully this gets fixed but it was beyond terrible condition.
Very poor condition
Lost their greens. Many of them are unputtable. This has been an ongoing issue with little/no improvement.
If it’s cheap and working on your game then fine. If you are wanting to play a course with half decent conditions, not your place right now
They should lower prices more or close the course to fix greens
Stay away
Don’t understand how they let it get that bad. Greens were the worst I ever played on. Free would be too much to charge.
Okay at best
First time we played this course we didn’t know the price ended up booking mid morning on a Sunday and it cost $90 a person which is wild, was later told they charge more for peak times. Second time playing booked late afternoon it was only $34 but they charged $30 for a ride along fee after I was told on the phone there would be no fee. Will not be playing here again unless it’s a great deal. The greens on the front 9 were mostly sand. Weather hasn’t been great so I’d like to give them the benefit of a doubt. Conditions as of 8/25/24
Bad greens
Greens were being aerated. Bunkers were full of water.
Course is beautiful otherwise
Greens under repair
Not a single green was legitimately playable. I understand repairs but we should have been notified prior to booking.
Stay Away!!
Fairway's fine - greens terrible! Don't bother playing until they fix the greens. Some areas of the greens just pure sand!
Everything was good to very good but the greens and they were horrible. The greens are what makes or breaks a course and these aren't worth playing. We putted on mostly sand. I hit one putt and it jumped almost a foot into the air after hitting something I didn't see before hand. Avoid.
Won’t be Returning soon.
Tee boxes and fairways are in good shape but the greens are unplayable. 14 of the 18 greens had horrendous sand and dirt spots, to the point of causing holes in the greens. Greens have been this way since at least 4 months and no sign of improvement. I’m not sure what they are but there are also either sod or mowing lines in the greens, to the point of completely off lining putts.
Played at 2:30 on a Saturday and no cart girl on a hot day. Bathrooms were also locked at pit stops.
Greens Unplayable
Course has really went down hill. There are craters in most greens that are not repaired
Couldn't believe it
In really sorry --I'm from the "if you can't say something nice--don't say anything at all" era
But these are the worst greens I've ever seen
And I grew up in England in the 70's-- when we still
used sheep to maintain the golf course....
They should not let people out there to play
It's that bad --and I'm actually being kind
Someone send a search party..
The Golf Club at South Hampton has lost their greens.
I found it incredulous that they charged "greens" fees, since there was very little grass to be found on the area of the course one would expect to find the greens. In fact, more than half the "greens" were actually sand bunkers, and what's ironic is that the greens made better bunkers than the actual bunkers, which were either under water, or poorly maintained.
With so many other options available nearby, there is no reason to play here, and we won't make the mistake again.
The one highlight was pace of play, which was excellent, only because no one else was dumb enough to play this course.
