Golf Club At South Hampton
About
The Golf Club at South Hampton was designed to give every golfer appropriate risk-and-reward opportunities that supply both encouragement to beginners and challenges for more advanced players. The slope and contour of the course’s landscape is its trademark with strategic mounding and over 60 contoured bunkers that emphasize the terrain’s natural undulations. The course features rolling fairways and massive greens. There are also sixteen large lakes that come into play throughout. The signature hole is the tremendous par-5, 17th, which is a scenic hole that features a lake, fairway bunkers, and a breaking green. Although the course is a challenge, there are six sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

Pretty disappointing
We went to play on Saturday March 2nd after a few months and I have to say that the conditions of the course in general were pretty poor. It’s not because of the time of the year. That has nothing to do with the conditions of the course. We’ve played in other courses recently and the difference is huge. Playing in South Hampton is not cheap, so we honestly expect better conditions. Cimarrone has improved immensely; the fairways, tee boxes, greens, golf carts, in general everything much better than South Hampton, and cheaper!!! We believe is time the management starts doing some serious renovations and maintenance if they are going to keep charging so much for a round. Otherwise, we will keep going elsewhere.
Concrete greens
First time playing this course and we would not return in the future. The greens were hard as concrete with little grass left. Probably due to dry conditions and age of the grass. They need to be redone. We like the challenge of sand traps but this course is excessive with the placement and number of traps. Given the other options in the area, we opt to play elsewhere.
Not worth the price
South Hampton used to charge in the $40-$45 range to play & course was always in good shape. Now they charge $55-$65 and the course is in poor shape. Greens are rock hard with no grass at all. Balls hitting green runs off 90% of the time. Fairways rock hard and no grass, mostly dirt.
Very disappointing!
TO ALL GOLFERS EVERYWHERE
Please, sand / replace your divots. Repair your ball marks on the green. And rake the sand trap properly when you leave. . Thank you very much!
Average at best
Played mid-morning on Saturday in late February.
The Good- pace of play was good, even approaching great on this nice/busy day. Carts in good shape (but no GPS/tracking/speakers). Enjoyable course layout.
The Bad - The course has had a lot of play and it shows, particularly on the greens, which are thin and fast. Tee boxes and fairways in fair condition considering time of year.
Overall, I will play this course again, but will make sure I find a discount to make sure it’s worth price.
No golf karts for tee time
To be fair I booked this reservation through GolfNow and not the course: When I arrived I checked in and paid. Guy at front desk didn't let me know that each tee time was approx 30 minutes behind. He also didn't let me know that there were currently no carts available. Sat around at the cart pick-up area for around 20 minutes or so. Got paired up with (2) over 90 year olds and started around an hour late... Was only able to play until the 13th hole due to poor communication by the office staff and even worse management by the elderly starter/on-course Marshal. Greens sucked as well - very fast. Would have had better luck putting on cart path.
Great Couse
This was our second trip to the area and my wife and I love the course. We'll be back again next year. Cheers
Has been better
Great layout but gets way too much play. Good value w fast greens. Course appearance needs attention. Bringing 7 friends from Ohio next week and may hear some course condition complaints.
Excellent course for the sometimes-wayward tee shots. Fairways/bunkers in very good shape; greens were a little thin with some oversanding but were consistent. Very good facilities (range, practice greens, snack bar). Good value compared to other local courses.
The driving range is a cow pasture. You’re hitting off dirt because there is no grass to hit off of. The practice putting green behind the clubhouse is also a cow pasture with many bare spots that have been covered over with sand. Hi buddy.
Great Course
Second time playing this course while visiting Florida and will play it again if we are back next year. Would definitely recommend this course, a great value for the money.
nice course for the $$$
other than the grass was dormant, the course overall was fine. Ball would roll like no tomorrow. the pace of play was fine.
Good day at SH
Good day today, paired with three nice guys. Greens could have been a bit better, looks like they have been getting a lot of playing time. Too much residual fertilizer on some greens, but overall the course was playing well and in good shape.
Show your greenskeeper.
Hey, Southampton, this is how you replace an old hole!!!

The good reviews you read here are all bogus.
There is absolutely nothing that is excellent about this golf course. The driving range and the putting green behind the clubhouse are cow pastures. The rest of the course is not much better. On the greens, your ball will bounce and wiggle the whole way to the hole. If you wind up in a sand trap and you are lucky, there will be a rake that is not broken. It is a shame because it is a Mark McCumber design. It used to be maintained very well. The current owners have really let it go downhill, but they charge premium prices.
World Golf Village Stay & Play Package
Take your friends to Cimarrone across CR210 and to Stillwater just up CR210 from South Hampton. You and your friends will not be disappointed!
