Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

course conditions below par, but nice people
The course wasn’t great but people were nice. Tee boxes are pretty much backyard grass, fairways in decent conditions but drainage was pretty bad do some parts were flooded, greens were mostly good except a few were in rough shape. they did let us wait out the rain for an hour and continue playing after wards so that’s a plus. if you’re paying full price i would rather different courses but if you catch a hot deal it’s not bad.
Friendly staff and fellow golfers
Greens roll and fairways a must for good score. Starter is prompt and check in staff friendly. .when in area a must play.
Pleasantly surprised
I haven’t played this course in many years but decided to play it again after noticing the improving reviews. The course is in very good condition overall and the greens were specially nice. They had challenging nuances and rolled true. Only number 12 had an unputtable bare spot. Number 3, a par four, for some reason was shortened to the distance of a long par three. The staff was friendly and we were greeted with a cart at our car on arrival. I would definitely recommend this course.
Better Than Before
I played this course 3 years ago and it was in very bad shape. It is looking better and I will be back.
Ok course for the $$
Greens need some help. Fairways & Tee boxes not so great. Course is in mediocre condition
I like this course
I play here several times a year...like the old school feel. As we have had little rain, this and many other courses are a bit dry and sandy in places but not unplayable. Mayfair is easy to get to and I would say worth trying out.
Still anxiously waiting for renovations and course improvement, new club house. It is a diamond in the rough once the those conditions are completed…..
Greens are great
As usual, the greens are the best part of the course. They are smooth, good pace, and tricky to read. Fairways are looking better but the tee boxes still need work.
Nice Surprise
I’ve played Mayfair off and on for years and the conditions have been up and down. This is my first time this year and I was pleasantly surprised with the overall condition of the course, especially the greens. They were very fast and true. Just goes to show what a good superintendent and maintenance crew can accomplish. I will be playing here more often.
Mayfair
Local course and is very open for play. Couple of water holes. Course is decent with weather conditions in mind and not much rain to provide better grass. Normally visit course and a little slow for play. Overall I do enjoy playing there.
Pay more to play elsewhere
We checked in only to find a 90 minute delay for the first tee. We decided to go next door. We spent a few dollars more but played a round in well under 4 hours this is most likely linked to golfnow over booking and relying on a percentage of cancellations. Just like the airlines. But unlike the airlines we weren't offered anything other than finding a new course. Golf now has made booking a round into a money machine, has gotten clubs to make more per round and I honestly do not see where the value and the extra money is going. I have seen the stock price
