Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Mayfair
Greens good except for #12. Fairways good except for bumpy. Some tee boxes still need work
Decent Course at a fair pirce
Course was in surprisingly good shape. Greens were well maintained & fairways good. Mayfair is an old course & is always fun to play. Some parts of the course are still under construction & hopefully will be finished soon.
Be prepared to wait
The course conditions are great. The biggest problem is pace of play. There are no marshals on the course keeping track of pace of play. Took almost 3 hours to play the front nine. The back was somewhat better. Also only two water stations on the course makes it difficult to stay hydrated especially when there are no cups for water.
12 still needs some help
Good overall round. Work on 3 is progressing after the water plant construction shut half of it down. Greens are pretty good. Some bare spots on fairways. Some tee boxes need attention. The green at 12 is still a work in progress. Can't beat the afternoon price, but a little steep for a morning round.
sandy greens
Played on a Wednesday. Greens had been sanded and were not good. Fairways were inconsistent with a lot of sections burnt by the heat. Some areas just sand.
Remains under renovation, green in great shape, continues improving…Great history since 1922!
Few Holes ruined the round
First time playing. Had heard good things. Clubhouse is a small trailer as they are building new clubhouse which is cool. Beautiful looking course until you get into it. Hole 3 was disaster. No fairway. Only grass was tee box and the green. No hole marker either, which left us wondering if it was in play. Also two holes later in the round had attrocious greens. Looked as if they tore up the grass and left it to heal. This all would’ve been fine, however no mention of it by any staff. Steep price to pay for a course clearly under severe renovations. Will be back but not until it is back up at full capacity.
My neighborhood go to course
The course remains under renovation and much work still needed. The greens are in good condition and the fairways are rough in some areas. Still recommended because of its history and support needed to complete its renovation…
Good course
Good budget course if you want to play a good round wit pga reg length.
About condition
Some holes don’t have little grass on the green and the one hole I think is the hole 3, may be is in construction.
Golf courses need to pay attention to pace of play, when I see a comment like this I won't play the course. Nothing worse than one group backing up an entire golf course.
