Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Late afternoon starts are great
With DST, 3p tee times are great. Even on a Saturday afternoon, the earlier tournament was over. For awhile my group had the course to ourselves. Most greens were in good shape, only a few with bare spots and aeration holes to bring them back. Always a challenge.
A Good Course - Not Spectacular but Good
Quite busy this time of the year at Mayfair with the Northerners down for the winter. But the play did seem to move along at a decent pace, especially the back nine. Greens are quite nice - very fast. Fairways and Tee Boxes marginal at best. Mayfair is generally the cheapest Hot Deal this time of the year and the RATES are not cheap. Rates will be lower April-May.
Cow Pasture
I played here several years ago. Only came back because golf prices have sky rocketed and they had a Hot Deal, not so Hot $35! The course is basically a cow pasture! Other than the greens, they don't seem to care, or maintain anything.
Their check in has changed. I bought 3 Hot deals. Normally I check in and when everyone is there, we go to the starter. They REQUIRED that each person that I paid for park and then go to check in at the trailer. She could not explain why, I already had the ticket for the starter. So, I had my ticket, went over and got a cart and loaded up our clubs just like every other course we play at. Got in trouble for that also. Even thought there was not a sole around when I picked up the cart or, 20 minutes later, I was chastised for getting the cart without permission. LOL We did not know we were supposed to wait, nor did we know where he was. Water under the bridge, conditions were so bad we wont be returning.
3 friends golfing
Course is looking and playing awesome, little fast but definitely worth the money. Loved the new roadway to #10, and some of the teebox changes. Kudos to your grounds people and staff and look forward to seeing you again. Thank you.
Course not in great shape
Lots of dead spots - hard ground. No ranger to eliminate slow play.
Hey, it's muni, but a good test
Not bad, but not great either. Can be challenging. Bermuda in February is thin but playable. Most greens rolling good but some bare spots exist. #12 green needs help. City of Sanford, please finish the water treatment plant so we can have #3 back.
Course
#3 hole still a mess.after 3 years. Would only play here if I can find a$20 deal.
Good for the money
Good layout, tough holes this round (they just hosted a tournament), fairly quick greens. The range was torn to shreds so no warmup (it's only 200 yds anyway) - this is where Mayfair could really use some improvement.
Way to many players
I’ve played this course a few times. This weekend, it felt like tee times were way too close together. 5 holes had 3 different groups waiting on the tee box while another group tees off and another was approaching or on the green.
The greens were like turf. Crazy fast and lots of dead spots throughout the fairways. Overall was quite disappointed
Rough in some places
Course for the money was nice but there were quite of few areas that were in bad shape. Some greens were in need of repair. But overall fit the price it was a good place to play.
