Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Best value couuse in town
Mayfair has become my favorite golf course in the area, they have taken a lot of effort to improve the course, the fairways are nice and soft and the greens are fast and challenging. The staff are very friendly and they have a large number of regulars that really enjoy playing there.
Pace of play can be a challenge sometimes, particularly on a Saturday but I believe this is a factor of its popularity and high demand.
I play here often and highly recommend it!
Always a good, relaxed time.
Enjoy playing this course as it’s close to my home. People that play here are always nice and the pace of play is generally good.
Fun, but ...
I had a good time, but being an out of towner I didn't realize how far away this course was from south International drive.
SUPER SLOW
It took us about 4 and a half hours to play 18. Super slow and no Ranger anywhere to speed things up. They still have a few things to fix on the course as well.
Nuisance Course
Golfed one week prior to this round. Pace of play both times was terrible. 5 hour round on both occasions. Groups of 5 each time I golfed there were allowed to play. No rangers to speed up play. The course is decent, greens in good condition and fairways ok. I would not recommend playing unless you don't mind 5hr golf rounds
Greens are fast ...but....
the fairways and tee boxes are thin (at best). Greens are smooth and lightning fast!
Lots of tight lies, bad lies.
Great time with friends
Other then it being very windy we had a great time. Greens were in great condition and the traps were well maintain (I order know I was in 6).
Not going back
The greens weee the best part of this course. T boxes had little or no grass and the fairway runouts were just sand and dirt. Conditions over all very poor. We were told that there used to be a nice clubhouse but it was torn down and now they are operating out of a trailer. Really second rate.
Very, very disappointed! Been going there for over 20 years.First time this year.Fairways had many bad areas of nothing but sand.Grass was non existent on tee boxes.Greens had damaged areas.Would not recommend to date this year.
Pace of play
I would say the course was over-booked when we played. We don’t enjoy waiting on every shot. Several groups dropped out after the continual waiting.
Priorities
I see the course is planning a new million dollar club house. That’s nice and could add some extra income for the club, however more money needs to go to course conditions.. golf is all about the grass. A few greens need to be reconfigured and repaired. Fairways are too thin,; rough is bear; tee boxes are rough. Ambience is nonexistent. It’s not good when you tap a put and it goes 10 ft past the hole. As it stands now this is not a $60 course. Course conditions are what golfers want, not a nicer place to buy a $6 hotdog.
