Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

OVERALL RATING
During 2019 and 2021, I played just two rounds due to knee injury. I had right knee replacement last March and now resume playing.
Course was in poor condition - charged too much for poor conditions
Course was in poor condition but they were charging as if it was in great shape. It was a good layout but conditions were bad and affected normal play. Greens were very dry and extremely fast. Pace of play was fine.
Lyle Sr
Cons: The course is in bad shape particularly hole #3.!
Pros: The staff are very friendly particularly Willie!
Mayfair
Greens are n good to great shape. Some of the fairways need work, especially the 3rd hole. The fairway looks like a world war 2 battle ground.
Nice course, poor pace of play
I’ve came here twice and both times, the pace of play has been terrible. I understand they have PGA tournaments ongoing and such, but it’s very frustrating when you cant stay warmed up hole to hole since you have to wait so long.
The greens were in excellent condition, and the pins were in challenging spots as well.
Fairways were fantastic.
Naturally, since they had a 70 man tournament there that day, the tee boxes were a bit chewed up, but it wasn’t anything that would severly affect your drive.
Way too slow
We can never get a round in under 4 and a half hours. Even slower on the front nine. No ranger speeding things up either.
Greens are pretty good, but the course is overutilized. Lots of run-off as well
Slow pace!!!
Much too slow pace. 4 ball ahead We have never expirenced such a slow 4 ball at green
50/50
50% of the tees, greens and fairways were in good shape.
Fun and friendly golf course
very fun course and best greens in orlando. Friendly staff and comfortable environment. Will come back to play.
Some greens better, still need some care
After a cold spell, the grass was a bit dormant. The usual deep Bermuda rough was thin and actually more playable. Some greens rolling well but some suffered from the cold. Some tee boxes are moved to allow reseeding. Still, pretty good overall. Worth the afternoon greens fees, but I'd skip the morning price.
Course Overbooked
Overbooked. Slow play. Long lines.. 3 hours to play 9 holes.
Slow play and poor condition
Worse experience at Mayfair in 25 years playing this course. Waited in long lines to play half a round of golf. Took over 3 hours to play 9 holes. Course was overbooked and in poor condition. The range was terrible condition and unusable.
Stay alert
The course layout is very open. Each hole next to each other with very little cover. We almost got hit about a dozen times, and I did get hit in the thigh by the people teeing off next to us. I still have a massive bruise on my leg. So just stay alert.
We played this course due to a hot deal. The conditions of the course were fine. It was very packed, took 5 hours to finish 18 with no break after 9.
Nearly Recovered from Flooding
Almost playing like it used to. Casual standing water has been pumped out except for #9. White or blue Tees don't have a good landing zone making you hit over trees for this par 4. Can't wait for the Water Treatment Plant to finish construction and return #3 back to normal. Greens rolling fast due to dry and cold weather. Can't spin approaches enough. Stay under the pins if you can or it's 3-put city.
Course closed today
Had tee times up for Christmas morning. Reserved Saturday for Christmas morning tee time. Showed up and no one was in the club house. Was also charged the golf now fee.
