Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Casual water
Because of the latest storm and rainfall this course has a lot of casual water. Once this is gone, it’s a nice course to play at. Staff is super friendly and helpful.
Pace was slow, maybe because it was a Saturday but I still had a good time.
Great layout always fun
Wonderful Donald Ross layout.
Many memorable holes.
Good value and friendly staff
Considering the recent weather events, the course was in good shape. Maybe a little extra “casual” water, but still fun and challenging.

Got a great deal on Golf Now, so easy when I checked in. The starter was super nice and carts were clean. Course was in good condition and plenty of room and they are making up grades.
I live in the area and have played here about 10-12 times in the past four years.
Mayfair has improved its carts, cart paths, greens, from the carry onward-fairways, and tee boxes since COVID shutdown. The “carry” between tee boxes and the edge of the fairways on 4s and 5s is still in poor shape. Hole #3 (where the course has lost territory to the water treatment plant) is still listed on the card as a 4. It plays only about 175 yds now and should be a par 3. Hole #12 has had its green under major sod repair for four years. Some rude players rode up to speak with their buddies who were landscaping at the time I was putting. They and the landscapers were about 20 ft to my right as I was putting. I first thought they were driving/playing thru (which was odd because playing alone I finished my round in 2hrs and 5 min). I paid no attention until they stopped to yuk it up with the landscapers. After I missed a 4 ft comeback putt one of them realized what douches they were being and said out loud “that’s good…we were talking”. I walked off and never looked at them. Morons…
Overall. The course is worth $25.00/morning and $18.00/afternoon. It is a bit more than that but the occasional “hot deal” makes it about that price and the greens are rolling nicely.
3stars
I like this course
This is an old school course...some fairways nhots are important on several holes, some4-5 with ot too wide and many greens somewhat small...some water but really only one to carry, Course is open with little jungle like vegetation near fairways...no snake boots needed. It is easy to get to and certainly worth trying out...I play there several times a year and would more except for gas and tolls adding significantly to the expense
Tees to Greens - Great Shape
Get ready to dig out of the thick Bermuda if you find the rough. Balls will settle down in it and make it hard to find! Keep it in the fairway and you'll be rewarded. Greens in great condition except for 12 with its "sand trap" on the left. Chronic issue there. Good course.
Good day at Mayfair
We hadnt been playing too much because of the heat but got an 11 am hit deal at Mayfair. It was great. There was no one in front or behind us. The staff was helpful and friendly. The course was in good condition and green. We had a good time.
Decent course
Greens are in very good conditions, a bit slow, fairways are excellent, the course is more challenging than it looks! Enjoyed the round!
