Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Completely Shocked
Take what you know about Mayfair and throw it out the window. This course has gained the reputation of cheap casual golf for getting hammered and hitting some balls. I gave it a shot again because it looked good from the road and wow it has earned my recommendation! Fairways are fantastic, greens are beautiful, and teeboxes are halfway decent. Now, is it worth $50 that they are asking for? No. The course still has a very wide open layout with rather dumpy layouts but all in all I would rather play a course with nice conditions and a boring layout compared to the alternative. Don’t bother with the range though. Well done Mayfair! New clubhouse coming soon too!
Great value
Course conditions and pace of play were better than expected
No play
Booked tee time and paid on line! Called day of play to confirm time! Was told that tournament was being played, no outside play!! How can I get my money back???? Thanks
Good Job
I played here several years back, and the conditions were poor. The course has vastly improved, fairways are getting sodded and filling in, greens are beautiful, and we now have real cart paths and new carts. They built a new bathroom, but it was kind of dirty (somebody needs to keep on top of it with a daily cleaning) It was a pleasure to come back and see so much getting done. I'll be back.
Casual golf course
To be fair, many of the fairways are in excellent conditions, although some do need more care. Greens are on the slow side, but they roll fine, tee boxes are average, pace was acceptable, staffs are very friendly, I was by myself, the starter let me tee off at 10. This is a course for some casual golf IMO, for those play more competitive golf or more serious, choose elsewhere such as LPGA in daytona or Nothshore in Orlando

Better every round
Great improvements here.
New carts last time.
New cart paths and lots of new sod.
Spectacular trees throughout.
Excellent greens.
this course was terrible.. had more rocks & rubble laying around than grass. This should have been $5 to play & thats being generous.
Better than most!...greens roll great, new cart paths, new carts, improvements being made everyday, fun to play always!
Etiquette
Unfortunately when playing a public course you get the weekend warriors who do not keep up pace of play and do not let people play through.
Other than that the course was in good shape & staff was very friendly.
Worst of the worst
The only good looking holes on this golf course are the ones that you can see from the street peeking back layers into the further holes and general maintenance of the golf course you see mounds of dirt dead grass unkempt areas and tonight there are almost 50 golf carts that they have parked up against five houses on my street. most of us bought our homes and paid the premium to live on a golf course. Since we have made many complaints about the noise level the fact that they mow their lawns between 4 and 5 AM in the morning and things like mounds of dirt and hordes of golf carts being left behind our homes none of us have any desire to play at this golf course and give them one dollar.
major improvements
If you have not been to Mayfair in the last few weeks do give it a try...cart paths have been repaved, probably the first time in 30 years and the carts are brand new...real comfortable crusing....the course is about the same with fast greens in good condition...ok fairways with some rough areas but most courses are these days...new clubhouse to be built later this year
Worth the price
Greens a bit sandy, tee boxes average, fairways beginning to show some life. Deal price and pace of play comparing to other pricier courses in the area; not a bad choice.
Looks like they’re trying to make the place look better cleaning it all up new carts next year should be in great shape
