Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

I like this course
Mayfair is an olde school course, which I like. Slightly narrower fairways than modern layouts, some water to carry and the grass in places a little torn up but the greens are good...yesterday, they were blazing fast making for difficult putting for all 4 of us. I'd say to check it out, you might like it. Easy to get to off I-4 or the 417.
Apart from the greens being very good the rest of the course is not good, tee boxes and areas around greens are in terrible shape. Wont be playing here until all is fixed
w/ such small n crowned greens, its a bit unfair for them to be hard n lightning fast. one shot was pin high but then reversed and rolled back into the water.
Great greens
Greens were amazing, but fairways, rough, and bunkers were below average. $25-$30 course….
Amazing Greens/Classic Setup
Mayfair has been around a long time. I played it when I was in High School and I'm now 58. The greens were spectacular. Fast and very difficult. The fairways on the back 9 are better than on the front 9. The back 9 is really a links setup and therefore gets more sun. The front 9 has many trees and a lot of shade. The trees need some major trimming not only to let more light on the course but for the trees own health. With some money and time, this course could really be brought back to it's glory. The city owns it but is managed by a 3rd party company. I would play again.
Not good
Avoid this course if you’re a serious golfer. If you like drinking a 24 pack during your round then this is right up your alley
Carts
Had to wait 45 minutes for a cart. Was told there a lot of carts but were broken down and city won’t repair them. That is a disgrace. I have never in 60 years of playing golf had to wait for a cart. City needs to get these carts repaired!
Disorganized
The course was in decent shape. The best I've ever seen it in. Greens were pretty nice. and the fairways were fine. Cart paths are a bit messed up. We had to start about 40 minutes late. Still no clubhouse to speak of. Just a trailer.
6 on a tee box!
Sad day when the course manager is the one causing slow play on the course with a six-some. 6 hour round for a 6,000 ft course is a joke
"If They Only Sank Some Money Into It..."
I’d like to give it another star because it’s a really cool layout, and the green complexes are amazing. But… the conditions are too poor. The tee boxes were commonly not level and a little choppy. The fairways were spotty, and you bounced around in the cart a lot. But the greens were mostly really nice and fast. It’s the classic example of “if they just sank some money into it…”. But l did enjoy the round. I didn’t use the practice facilities at all. The cart was old, noisy, no GPS or USB. And someone thought it would be a good idea to put the driving range next to the parking lot.
