About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

6 on a tee box!
Sad day when the course manager is the one causing slow play on the course with a six-some. 6 hour round for a 6,000 ft course is a joke
"If They Only Sank Some Money Into It..."
I’d like to give it another star because it’s a really cool layout, and the green complexes are amazing. But… the conditions are too poor. The tee boxes were commonly not level and a little choppy. The fairways were spotty, and you bounced around in the cart a lot. But the greens were mostly really nice and fast. It’s the classic example of “if they just sank some money into it…”. But l did enjoy the round. I didn’t use the practice facilities at all. The cart was old, noisy, no GPS or USB. And someone thought it would be a good idea to put the driving range next to the parking lot.
Greens in great shape!
The greens were extremely fast! Most were in great condition however the fairways need more work as do the tee boxes! Also some of the cart paths need to be repaired! Almost exited the golf cart when we hit a hole covered in standing water!
Still quite a lot of improvement needed
Only real positive is that the greens are returning. Chewed up tee box’s, lumpy fairways and abysmal cart paths still need the same attention as the greens. Do realize that the course is in a construction mode but the days rate doesn’t justify the current course conditions given plenty of other options in the area. This place is off our rotation until much better reviews are read or heard of
Probably not coming back
First off, it was a perfect day for golf in Florida. The course conditions were fair to midland. Some areas on both the fairways and greens needed some TLC (bare spots). I have two major complaints: 1) greens are so hard, it's like putting on a warped bowling alley. 2) carts are in need of upgrading. Mine died at #8 and the replacement was not much better although it did make it to the end. With so many choices to golf in central Florida I probably won't be coming back here.
Great course for the money. Greens were in very good shape. Course needs spend a little money on improving the cart paths....lots of pot holes.
