Mayfair Country Club
About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

improving
Play here often. Fairways are nearing lush. Greens were firm and fast. If only some one would work on the cart paths it would be a great place to play.
It’s an 18 dollar round, and you play an 18 dollar course. Not in very good shape. But it’s cheap, so that’s a plus
Great greens!
Very nice Donald Ross Course, in very nice shape. Tees and fairways need a little help , but are coming along. Cart paths are rough, so go slow. Greens rolled true and fast.
Staff and locals are extremely friendly and helpful.
Very good value and a great experience as well.
A Good Test
Open and fair to players. Course was in great condition considering the rain the week before. Easy to get around with some great holes that make you think. You can play the course at different levels of experience . I will go back !!!
Good For The Money
Two things that were said in previous reviews bear repeating: (1) Really need some simple tee signage for first-time players. We sat behind a group for 10 minutes thinking "where did these people come from" until we realized we were sitting behind the 9th tee when we should've been on the 4th tee. If there's a tee box directly behind a green, with a cart path leading to it, it's only natural to think that's next. (2) The cart paths are in very rough shape. Wouldn't be surprised if they're the originals from the 1950s. Sounds like a minor thing, but it's definitely a jarring ride. Other than that, I thought the course and greens were in reasonably good shape - especially for $22 on a weekend.
Great course for seniors gives you a chance to get to holes on everyone even if you don’t hit the ball a long ways.Realy enjoyed the round shot a 89 .only been playing golf 4 years took game up at 68
Deteriorating Cart Paths
The course is showing signs of neglect especially the cart paths
Great course with a great layout
Still in somewhat rough shape after the storms but making progress to getting in shape.
Worried
I love this place. My worry is customer service is slipping. New staff not very nice. Hopefully it’s just getting used to the new place.
Fun course simple and easy to play. It’s not bayhill but it’s fun.
Customer service and friendliness was always an attraction- I hope they don’t loose it.
Nice older course
Friendly staff and friendly golf patrons on the course. The course has unique charm and moderate in difficulty. Would recommend and will definitely be back.
old course
Mayfair has been around forever and I suspect some respect is due here. The course has a good layout but is somewhat run-down especially since the hurricanes. Still some trees down, the net between the parking lot and driving range is still in disrepair, cart paths are well, non-existant at times. I understand the course is now owned by the city of Sanford, so I suspect they are waiting on new budget money. Nice little place if it were taken care of properly.
Frequent player
Greens are best in central Florida. Getting the storm debris (trees) out of the way!!!
