Mayfair Country Club

About
Opened in 1922, Mayfair Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Florida and it's still the only course in the historic city of Sanford. Over the years, it has hosted a number of famous players including Sam Snead and Arnold Palmer. The layout is wide open with a traditional design that is player friendly enough to appeal to novices and experienced golfers alike. Like most older course designs, the fairways are wide but the approaches aren't very forgiving. Water hazards come into play on over half of the holes and you might be surprised by a few subtle but tricky elevation changes. Mayfair Country Club is not a formidable test by any means, but there are a few challenging holes that will make you think.

Clubhouse is getting near completion
They’re still working on the clubhouse and the parking lot is still dirt and pretty muddy where I parked the other day. Course is in OK shape. Most of the greens are real good. The Fairways some places you gotta drive slow or
shake you out of the cart I mean really rough but Certainly worth checking out if you’ve never played it before I play at about once a month.
Greens were nice and smooth
The course was much improved from my previous experience.
Great value, worth the drive
Totally worth the price for a nice track with good conditions. Will be better once the new clubhouse is done.
I like this course
I play this course about once a month because it’s a pretty good drive from the house and five dollars in tolls, but if it was closer, I would play it much more often. It’s usually in good shape and it has an interesting variety of holes. The clubhouse is looking like it might be done in the next few months and so the parking situation will improve…. If you’ve never played it. It’s an old school course but certainly worth trying.
Open field
Loved how open it was. Really only had to worry about
Hitting fellow golfers
Work in progress
They are building a new clubhouse that should be completed by the first of December. The amenities should be much improved in regard to atmosphere, space, and menu. real nice staff.
Mayfair CC
Course layout it's easy to manage, open fairways...
Convenience
I haven't played Mayfair since 2021 but due to time of day and availability/location, decided to play there after church. It was nice to see that the clubhouse is being completely rebuilt. That meant the driving range is now used for parking. So much for arriving 1:15 min early for my tee time. Anyway, I was a single and offered to pair up with yhe group in front of me and the group behind me...both 2somes. After 4 holes, the 2some in front let me play through. Then there was another 2some 1 hole in front of them...the 8th hole. That 2some only played 9, but I had to wait on another 2some on the 10th hole. One was wearing a tank top, and he played accordingly. I waited every shot from the 10th tee through the 18th. There were several holes when they each took multiple tee shots, but never offered to allow me to go through, and there were no other players in front of them at all...at least 4 holes clear. No course ranger makes for very poor play behind trouble. Over 4 hours to play and I shot 76, as a single. Nothing has changed since 2021.
Strong Bones Exciting Future
Looking forward to playing here again once the renovations are complete. I pulled up to the track with my brother-in-law and did not expect much on the first tee. Although everything was smooth in the temporary club house with a friendly and eager staff course conditions were clearly not pristine so I did not expect an old Tour stop when we pegged it. Thankfully, I trusted the card with course and slope ratings and I’m glad I did as the white tees provided an ample test for a decent player who is out of practice. While the tee boxes need to be regraded and the turf could be more consistent in the rough the course was in playable condition and I look forward to seeing what they do with the place once the clubhouse is built.
