Windy Harbor Golf Club

About
Windy Harbor Golf Club is a military golf course located at the Mayport Naval Station, it was formerly known as the Mayport Golf Club. The seaside course now takes its name from the blustery ocean breezes that sweep through the back nine. The golf course is narrow with tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens that are slightly sloped. There is also a defined cut of rough beside every fairway. Greenside bunkers and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole make the course challenging for players of all abilities. Windy Harbor Golf Club also has practice facilities for golfers to use that include a driving range with grass and carpeted practice tees, a practice sand trap, and a large putting green.

What’s the point?
What’s the point of leaving a review for the golf course if I can’t read it when I go to my Golfnow app I have called into Golf this this is how I know what the courses are like without having to actually book a teatime and go see for myself! You need to return to having the reviews where we can read them!!!
Better than most
I play this course a few times a month and it's never been in better condition than it is now. The greens are full, firm and rolling true. Excellent conditions and a great value compared to many more expensive golf courses in the area.
Course in great shape for June
Tee boxes, fairways, and greens in good condition. They do a great job, and very budget freindly.
Best course for the price
Get your MWR Card and play this course. It is a fun course to play and the best course in Jax for the price
Very nice course
This course is very nice and very well kept The staff and everybody there were very nice I would recommend this course
Pace of play - needed a ranger to keep things moving
I rarely complain. Any day on the golf course is a good day. That said we ( a threesome) played behind 4 ladies - who played behind a tournament group that which played only nine holes. So the front nine was understandable slow. The back nine was then open. The women were not elite golfers - beginners + maybe. They had little skill but what was worse was that they had no idea regarding course etiquette … they were rarely ready to hit their shots and multiple opportunities to allow faster players to lay through. With 2 open holes they were clueless- the wait on every tee was 4-5 minutes and 2nd shots longer for them to clear the green and slowly get to their carts. Disappointing
Best I’ve ever seen it!
The course is probably in the best shape that I’ve seen it in years! Greens are rolling fast and true almost all the fairways are filled in and pretty plush and the tea boxes are all in great shape. It’s definitely worth getting your MWR card because it’s probably the best value in Jacksonville. You definitely get to play a course that’s worth a lot more money than what you pay based on the condition that it is in right now.
Great Course! Great Value!
It’s a fantastic course to play if you can get on base. If you can’t, either make a military friend or get an MWR card (see visitors center). It challenges you, but doesn’t beat you up. The staff are fun and the course is almost always in good shape. Highly recommend.
