About
Windy Harbor Golf Club is a military golf course located at the Mayport Naval Station, it was formerly known as the Mayport Golf Club. The seaside course now takes its name from the blustery ocean breezes that sweep through the back nine. The golf course is narrow with tree-lined fairways and large, fast greens that are slightly sloped. There is also a defined cut of rough beside every fairway. Greenside bunkers and water hazards that come into play on nearly every hole make the course challenging for players of all abilities. Windy Harbor Golf Club also has practice facilities for golfers to use that include a driving range with grass and carpeted practice tees, a practice sand trap, and a large putting green.

Challenging Course
Beginner golfer here and found this course very challenging. The course was well maintained and was great place to play. I will be practicing and returning in the near future. Would recommend to anyone!
Fantastic value
The course is always in beautiful shape,Friendliest staff in Jax. Local Gem.
Great Walking Course
Now with golf carts parked until further notice, it's time to stretch the legs and walk. Windy Harbor is a perfect walking course with no long distances between green and tee, apart from 9 to 10 . Carry your bag, or bring your own electric, or push/pull caddy; the club has caddies that can be rented too.
Fun and windy at Windy
Today the challenge was there with a strong wind coming from the NW. Conditions were very much like a Scottish links course on a blowy day. I always different course conditions, it brings in other dimensions to the game.
If you are playing through golf now they will not let you one minute early even if there is no one in sight
Great golf experience!
Great golf game at windy harbor on mayport naval base today! Course is in great condition and a great challenge!
The fairways on the front were wet even after no rain for about a week but the back dried out much more.
I love everything about this place except...
This sounds really picky (and I guess it is) , but the men’s room at Windy Harbor is unbelievably gross at times. Some better ventilation, (or industrial strength air fresheners) and a good old USN “Field Day” cleaning would do wonders.
Everything else is great and it is one of the best values in golf!
Windy harbor at mayport naval base
Course is in great condition and has very competive holes. The working staff are very helpful and friendly.
New carts
Awesome new carts with GPS! Friendly staff and great restaurant. Course is in good shape, greens are fair and mostly true. Easier to play when you get off the fairway due to much brush thinning. Bunkers are improved, but still needing sand, not shale mix. Improvements are super and make playing much more enjoyable.
Good Course, but a bit tough to get to
Windy Harbor is on Mayport Naval Station property. You cannot get to the course unless you have base pass (or a military ID) which you have to apply for and takes a week or so to get. Further, you have to wait in line at the gate to go through security which can be a lengthy wait during the morning rush. That being said, the course is usually in great condition and the pace of play is pretty quick. Cost is affordable and there is a great 19th hole. The course itself is very playable, but no holes are particularly memorable. It is worth a play.
Consistently a good experience
As usual Windy Harbor is a great experience and value for money. However, one aspect I find below par, all too often: bunkers, they need real sand and consistency. Also, I often find myself repairing too many divots and pitch marks, I think a little education is needed for some of the golfers.
Great course
Beautiful course in excellent shape and super friendly management.
Windy Harbor
As a retired serviceman, my wife and I spend our winters in Jacksonville. We stay on the base at Mayport . The course is very convenient for us but in addition it’s always in beautiful condition
