The First Tee of Monterey County

About
The par 31 golf course is 1850 yards in length and has four par 4 holes that range between 250 yards and 375 yards. Located in North Salinas adjacent to the Creekbridge housing development the course replaces Sherwood Greens Golf Course, which was closed in 1998. The course of gentle rolling hills with USGA greens is surrounded by protected wetlands, Natividad Creek and Gabilan Creek with vistas of the Gabilan and Santa Lucia mountain ranges. The First Tee of Monterey County (formerly known as Twin Creeks Golf Course) is a complete facility offering 9-hole and 18-hole rounds of golf, a fully equipped practice and teaching facility complete with golf carts. The 5000 square foot Clubhouse contains a pro-shop and a snackbar that is available for meetings, parties and banquets. The First Tee of Monterey County is a fun facility that will challenge the experienced golfer while providing excellent learning opportunities for youth and the novice golfer.

Great little course
My son and I like too walk in the area and always see the course
I thought let’s try it. Great 9 holes, good iron and wedge practice
Course in good shape. Nice to see the first tee program in play.
If you want good course for a quick 9 it will do the trick. Played 9 in 1 hour.
Better than expected…
For a public course, everything was pretty dang good. The only thing that I didn’t like was the bathroom facility. There was a shower and and old moldy chair in there that kinda creeped me out…
Was fun to play with no pressure!
Was a fun to play this 9 hole course. Excellent course to practice your swings, no pressure to get moving, and greens were in good shape as was the rest of the course. They are working on surroundings, much better and feels very safe.
Excellent challenge for all golfers
Having played this course for the first time I was very challenged with good greens and some very challenging holes. My only complaint is that the maintenance of the tees and fairways was lacking, I mostly noticed the tees hadn’t been mowed in over a week. I was a greens keeper years ago and notice everything but I guarantee you that my wife and I will play here again and bring friends. Not sure if they have a regular greens keeper or volunteers but surely enjoyed the course
great way to practice and improve
I have played this course 4 times during the weekdays. It's not open on weekends. Although it's an executive golf course it's a great little course to walk about 3 miles. It's well maintained in a nice area of Salinas. I've been able to play 2 balls without having to worry about other golfers on course. Several holes have elevational changes with enough variety to pracitce distance control and shaping shots. I will be coming back regularly to improve my game.
Course for money
Great 9 hole course for the price, we paid 20bucks for 9 holes, no one else was out but my party so whole course to our selves. No one to rush us, greens were being airrated so it was 2putt once u got onto greens. Fairways good condition, only 3 par 4 holes, tees were in great shape. Except for homelessness camps, great spot for walking.
Best Value!
What a great little course! Fun to play but it’s not very long, and I still found it challenging. The par 3’s are good with only one short pitch. The course is home to first tee, and this is the real deal! My money for the green fee goes towards helping these kids and you can’t spend any money better than this! They could charge $100 and it would be a good deal. I’m coming back, because our city needs stuff like this for our kids!
Overpriced
25 dollars (plus 4 dollar "convenience" fee for using their app) for 9 holes is absurd. They clearly have no motivation to be an actual public course. Can't blame them, the course is already paid for by tax dollars.
A great walk
Was happy to see the course is back open. There is no food & beverage, but Safeway is around the corner- just remember to bring your own snacks and water! Great customer service- the staff was very friendly and helpful. They did change the layout, so the new #1 Tee is the old #7, made it fun to go back out and play!
This is a short nine hole course with multiple tees so that you can play it twice using a different tee for the second half. This is the teaching course for the junior golf group. It’s a great course to take kids.
Great for working on the short game although there are two holes where you can hit a driver.
