Trump National Doral Miami - Silver Fox Course
About
The Silver Fox Course (formerly known as Jim McLean Course) is one of five 18-hole courses at Trump National Doral Miami. The courses offer a good game for players of any skill level. Unlike the Gold Course at the resort, the Silver Fox Course does not follow a traditional Floridian layout. There are elevated tee boxes and greens and narrow, rolling fairways. The golf course features an interesting variety of holes, short and long. Water hazards come into play on 16 holes of the 18 holes and there are also bunkers situated throughout. The course's signature hole is the 14th, which has an island green.

Great Golf Course, more affordable than others
I had an early afternoon tee time on weekend. First time at this property and it was hard to find a self-parking spot but valet parking was also an option. Easy check-in. I had to drive a golf cart for about 10 min since Silver Fox was on the furthest side of Trump property (just follow the sign). Condition was excellent, great value for the money compared to other courses in the area. Bottled waters were available throughout the course. Overall, it was fun and I would play this course again.
Beautiful place
Everything was nice and well kept up, but a couple of drawbacks is the lack of communication of how to get around the facility and Food and Drink Pricing. Luckily, a Groundskeeper showed us how to find The Silver Fox Course.(No Signs). As for pricing, $14 for a beer and $8 for a Coke, so much for affordability. Overall beautiful place and would like to go back again
Greens were not the best.
I've seen better greens for a quarter of the price. 20 minute cart ride to reach the first hole.
Overpriced
You would think Trump would take pride in rolling out something of high quality that has his name on it. This course was important condition the greens are in terrible condition. Then neighborhood surrounding it in some parts of the very run down. It took forever to get to the starting tee. Not impressed paid 200 bucks plus parking.
Horrible round of golf
We were expecting a great experience playing Trump National Doral. Unfortunately, the Silver Fox course was in terrible shape. The greens were bald in so many spots and full of sand. The tees were all chopped up and hard to find a spot to place the ball. In 2 locations the water coolers were empty.
Silver Fox Rating
Although I liked the design and the challenges the course presented, some of the greens (5 of 18) were in bad shape. The first hole is also extreme from the Gold tees, requiring a 235-yard carry against the wind. In general, it is a nice experience, and I will get back, expecting better green conditions.
Overrated
To .e this wAs just the slapping on of the Trump name to a course that is worth at most 75 bucks per round. Poorly kept greens and not great neighborhood to look at.
Silver excellent as usual, members need cart governors!
The staff, course layout and conditions, pace of play and amenities excellent as usual. Play the course weekly and have been playing the courses at Doral for over thirty years. The Silver became even more appealing when a bridge was built to go from the usual check in point at the main property instead of driving off property to Silver. Unfortunately at the end of our round, after coming off the Silver bridge, a member came out of nowhere behind us lights flashing, horn honking and tailgating before we even knew what was happening on this narrow road that leads back the clubhouse via the Gold Course. I pulled over with little room to spare so he wouldn’t ram into us and he passed us. All the while with a 2-3 year old child in the cart. As we passed the second hole green for the Gold this cart stopped briefly because his Yeti fell out of the cart. I said excuse me three times to get his attention as passing him by with no response and him proceeding to cut me off en route to the clubhouse. Paramount is that members have no governor on their carts but guests do so I couldn’t speed up to avoid the problem. The members must also have governors on their carts so this can’t happen. This sad excuse for a member put my wife and I in danger as well as his young child with no seat belt and reckless driving. Spoke to the starter about it and he’s heard this before and was empathetic to the situation and said he’d report it.
Doral quality you expect
Took my kids to play here again and the course was in great condition. 3h 15 minutes to get around. They over deliver cold waters in cart good gps golf tees..
Course was in bad shape, greens were terrible, half dead with sand stained green. Tee boxes all tore up. Not worth the cost to play.
Same thing actually happened to me. Spoke with management and they admitted that it was the “golf course security officer” and not an actual member.
