Trump National Doral Miami - Silver Fox Course
About
The Silver Fox Course (formerly known as Jim McLean Course) is one of five 18-hole courses at Trump National Doral Miami. The courses offer a good game for players of any skill level. Unlike the Gold Course at the resort, the Silver Fox Course does not follow a traditional Floridian layout. There are elevated tee boxes and greens and narrow, rolling fairways. The golf course features an interesting variety of holes, short and long. Water hazards come into play on 16 holes of the 18 holes and there are also bunkers situated throughout. The course's signature hole is the 14th, which has an island green.

Best and most challenging course at Doral!
Played this course many times over the years, even when you’d have to drive off the property to Doral Park. Currently check in is same place as the other three courses. Then you have to take a long cart ride and cross a bridge to the course. The course is in excellent shape, greens run true, very challenging (see slope and index) as well as excellent ambience. It could be better if there were more player assistance over there to keep an honest pace. Overall, highly recommend this course. To insure a great day on this golf course be sure to use tee boxes consistent with your level of play.
Good course- not equal to other Doral Courses
The Silver is fun but a major step below the other Doral courses. Surrounded by houses, it is too tight in many spots and lacks the serene atmosphere of the Blue, Gold and Red.
Fantastic Experience
From the moment I arrived my experience was 5 star. The facility and service was fantastic. Courteous staff and always assisting when I asked any question. They upgraded my course if you want to call it that. Paid for Silver and played Red Tiger.
All in all I will be back to play again shortly.
Silver Fox Shines
Played at noon on a Monday. Starter let us tee off a few minutes early as a twosome. Had the course to ourselves until we ran into another group who were gracious enough to let us play through. Finished in three and a half hours. Fairways and greens were perfect. Some holes are a little tight but manageable if you play the right tees. Only downside is the cost of rental clubs which is 90 bucks, so be sure to bring your own sticks, or rent some off site to avoid getting gouged.
Silver Fox Course
Arrived at the main clubhouse where you may drop off your equipment and self-park or have your vehicle valet parked. Everyone was both helpful and friendly as I valet parked, however Roger made me feel like a member of the club!
Locker rooms are available on the lower level of the clubhouse to store any items you may have.
Practice range, greens and chipping area are included with the green fees and are in excellent condition.
I decided to try this 155 slope course to challenge myself on this day. It was indeed challenging as the narrow fairways snaked it's way to the greens.
The starter and marshall on this day was Bob and Bobby who again, were very professional and helpful.
I look forward to my next visit and play the other courses located on the property!
Trump Doral Silver Course
Trump Silver was overpriced for the layout and what it is.
Course was in great shape, Greens rolled and average speeds, not really fast.
Layout is pretty good, some mundane holes but ok.
Definitely not worth the price of 205.00 paid.
but then again, its doral, south florida in february..
Best Course at Doral
Everything here was great. The service is the best you’ll find in south Florida. Doral itself is an absolutely must see if you’re in Miami. I played 3 courses here and this was the best by far. It was about $100 cheaper than alll the other courses so I was wary at first, but it turns out this was my favorite. In terms of quality, it is phenomenal. Just as nice if not nicer than the Gold and Red Courses and about as nice as the Blue Monster. It’s set back from the other courses which is good because the resort is so close to the airport, you get a break from the planes flying overhead for the majority of the holes. It’s played less often than the Red and Gold so it maintains its great condition. The fairways are long with only a few places to miss on each hole. The bunkers are placed so that you won’t be in the sand all day but still have to avoid hitting into them. The layout was perfect. For a difficult course, it was still an absolute blast to play. Water everywhere which makes for tons of wildlife and great scenery with all the different types of greenery. The greens were excellent and very playable so you can make some good putts. All in all if you’re gonna visit Doral, you should play the Silver. It’s as close as you can get to the Blue Monster while being about $200 cheaper with the same great service and conditions.
First class
Played Doral Silver Fox! Not easy, but fair! Greens were perfect! Course well cared for! $102 fee, but worth it! Your treated like a king from unloading to leaving. EVERYONE EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and really glad your there!
Really fun, fair, challenge golf course!
Greens were fast and course was in excellent condition! It’s everything you want in a golf course.
Awesome amenities
Place is outstanding. Silver is said to be the worse course but it was still great. Loved the greens and the course layouy
Best secret in Miami
Best secret in Miami is the Doral silver fox course I played this course for some high school matches 20 years ago and it was always an incredible lay out once it was purchased and made part of the resort it only got better I hear members don't like to play it because of the 11 minute cart ride it takes to get to the first hole but it is one of the best courses in South Florida The greens were in the best shape of any greens I have played in several years including several prestigious private courses didn't really want to write this review because I want to keep this secret I'll to myself
Overpriced and they are very full of themselves
The course is in average shape but way overpriced at $115 off season. I'm not sure if they are so full of themselves because of the current owner or if they've always been like that. And beware that they charge $20 for mandatory valet fee without any notice until they go to pick up your car. The course was empty when I played (as was the Tee sheet for the next 3 days) I assume because of the high fee. For the day I played, there were only 5 tee times taken ALL DAY. Jacaranda was in better shape, with truer greens and better fairways.
A good course, but not great
I had played all of the other courses at Doral except the Silver Fox. While I found the Silver to be a really good course it is not the same caliber at the Red, Blue, and Gold courses. The course was not located on the property and we had to drive about a mile and a half from the clubhouse, thus it didn't have the feel of a Doral course (almost every hold was lined with residential properties, and there was a substantial amount of crabgrass lining the side of many holes). However, the course still had an interesting and challenging layout and the conditions were very good (although the greens had recently been punched). Overall I would say if you are going to play at Doral you might as well play the Red, Silver, or Blue courses. Although the regular rates for the Silver course are less expensive than the other three I could clearly see the reason why. Overall good course, but not worth the money.
great round
showed up during a rain delay. course and staff was very accommodating in coordinating people getting back on the course and getting new groups out. after a severe rain the course dried out rapidly and was perfect by the end of 2. good challenges, lots of water and strategic bunkers. definitely would play again.
