The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Needs works
The course is fun to play but the greens need lots of work. Lots of big divot holes and dry patches on the greens. Fairways also have some dry spots and some spots that were being worked on.
Best Shape for a links course
Summery is a links style course so the conditions are always going to be somewhat difficult to maintain. The staff was extremely friendly. They have done a lot of work on this course and it is in the best condition that I have seen it. There is still much work to be done on the fairways and the roughs, but the course is coming along and is a good value for your Golf Now rate. Enjoyed my round very much.
Keep up the great work!
Let me just start with the work the staff is doing & they are doing great. Yes, there are bare patches on course but they are watering the course for sure, maybe to much. It's coming around great. Greens are coming back . Go play Great job guys.
Better and better and better and better and...
... and better and better. If you played the course like me when it first opened (or have seen the lovely aerial photo from when it first opened on the website) and compared that to any other time in the past few years, you were probably very very very disappointed. However, now, if you compare the newly-opened photo to actual reality, it's not THAT off. Now let me be clear, I don't think the course will ever look like it did when it first opened, like never ever again-- that would mean dredging all the lakes, berms, cutting back tons of wildflowers/gress/weeds/etc... To be honest, as someone who played it when it first opened, I am liking the "grown-in" feel of it now. It feels more established and truly LINKS style. If you imagine this course sitting right up next to the coastline of Scotland, you would only see grass in the low/flat areas (aka fairways). On the higher ground mounds, you would see sand-- the wind would blow away any grass (aka "rough" or "OB"). If you know that is the style The Links at Summerly is going for, they almost have nailed it. Like others have mentioned, it is still not quite there, but it is closer to being a true LINKS style course than it ever has, even from when it was brand-new... better and better and better...
Great Coarse and Staff
Lot of work being done on the coarse. It was in very good condition.
The head pro and the staff were very accommodating and made myself and my playing partners feel very welcomed.
They made us feel like the drive down from Diamond Bar was very worth it.
Thanks to all!
Course is looking better each time I play it.
I have played this course about 6 times since mid COVID-19 hit. The course is looking better and better every time I go back. This course is easily accessible from I-15 and Highway 74 (Ortega Highway) Best value for my money that I have found. There is still some maintenance work for them to do like some of the markers need replacing from vandalism but, the entire staff is really putting in the work to get it looking green, clean and welcoming. Th Pro Shop is slowly getting full array of gear as well. They even offer Golf Camp for kids. My son did the 3-Day Camp this past week and he really enjoyed himself. Keep up the great work!
Finally Playable
This is the best this course has ever looked.
I have been waiting for many years for them to fix this course up. Still has work to be done. Love the layout. They finally have enough grass. The greens are marked up but that is the players fault. The staff is a pleasant relief. Very polite and easy going. So many courses the staff is Uptight , rude and just worried about how to make up the money they lost from Covid 19. I will be coming back and recommend golfers to give this course another chance.
Very fun links course, great value
Had a very good time on Tue. Course was very green for how hot it has been. No construction on any holes. Tricky course but is slightly forgiving was able to recover most out of bounds balls. Greens are tricky and best part is how much you pay. Becoming a member soon!
Dramatic Improvement
A year ago, this course looked like it had been abandoned. What a difference a year makes. There is grass on the course and the greens are pretty solid. Still not as good as when it first opened, but it’s a fun track that’s back on the right path.
Challenging course
Narrow fairways, definitely an irons course with some drivable holes ... can’t see where your hitting so I didn’t like that .. I won’t be back to play this course, at least update the score cards to show reveens in middle of fairways to let people know .. your hitting blindly, no thanks
Always fun
Summerly was sirprisingly green for this time of year. The greens are in exceptional shape and although some fairways are under repair, overall condition is good.
Its one of a kind for sure!!
Stupid burns!!
It is back from the dead
Once beautiful (2011, 2012) to complete death. A dustbowl (2014-2018) Now its sodded, seeded and healing. Cudos to the staff. Im sure applications must be sequenced, especially with a sand base, but there is quite a way to go before hearty grass fills in the weak and dead areas.
Good luck to all.
GREAT TRAC
GREAT PEOPLE GREAT COURSE CONDITION IS GETTING BETTER GREENS WERE TRUE PACE OF PLAY EXCELLENT WILL BE A GO TO COURSE
