The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Great course
Giving the staff at the course some breathing room due to the current state due to Covid-19, the course was in great shape and a lot of fun to play. Had a great day with a friend and will definitely play again if the course maintains its current condition.
Fun challenging course with a lot to consider on each shot. Strategic play on this one as the burms and water will kill you if not.
Second time and was a little disappointed.
The wife and I played here a week after playing for the first time. It was a mild 94° when we played, but that’s not my complaint. I know during these times you won’t please everyone. I understand the need to remove the water jugs from the course. I also, understand the need to really almost over water during the hot times. The only gripe, that the course could control, is that you didn’t know if it was cart path only or not until you were in the middle of the fairway. Just gotta put some signs up, or tell us at the start. Other than that, I love the course. Really have to plan where to land the ball. Landing on the green isn’t always the best course of action. Will definitely play again.
Very good links course
If you don’t want to fly to Europe but want to play a very good links course right here in SoCal....you’ve got to play The Links at Summerly! Staff is excellent and very helpful, amenities are good and the course is a very good representation of “links gold”’. Not for the average one a month player.....you won’t enjoy it at all, but if you’ve got game you’ll be challenged at every turn, bunker, hump & bump and waste area you’re sure to find along the way. I make it a must play every time I’m in SoCal.
Still not worth it, needs more grass and staff
Well there is definitely more grass than the last time I was here, but the course is still 50% dirt. 2 of 5 tee boxes on every hole are dead piles of dirt. If you hit it off the fairway you're in dirt. Stood in pro shop for 5 mins at 11am before someone showed up. Cart died on hole 11 and called 3 times to request a new one. After being on hold for 15 mins each time, and multiple apologies, no cart. I think they have 1 employee on a Sunday. Lastly, the round took 5 hours. No marshall, but that is expected given everything else said.
Fairly challenging for me for first time playing here.
My tee time was 6:40am, The gentleman in the pro shop was extremely nice and got me on my way out to first tee w no delay. The greenskeeper guy who i chatted w on the first two holes was very nice as well as he was tending to the greens. Pace of play was excellent since i was off early and had no one in front of me. The course os a bit challenging with all the burns and fairly narrow fairways. Greens were in pretty decent condition. The no. 10 hole is a blind dogleg left not represented accurately on the scorecard, i went towards the flag in front of me as i was discombulated. Greens were super fast (at least for me). Overall...a bit challenging but still had a good score. Par 5s are very reasonable to birdie if off the tee well. Good round
Very slow golfers ruined the day
The worst thing about slow golfers is that they never have to wait. Back-to-back fivesomes slowed Thursday’s round to a crawl for 11 holes. Very good pace through 7 holes.
I used to be a starter and marshal here so it was very frustrating to see three and four groups on a hole on the back nine.
3.5 hours for 9 holes with drunk kids harassing my group as we tried to pass.
Was really excited to try this links course. Started out fun but quickly got bad and unprofessional. This was the most unacceptable round of golf I’ve ever played and I’m regretting driving an hour to play this course today. Our cart died on us by hole 6 and had to have a new one brought out to us. The group ahead of us also had a cart die on them. This caused course play to be slowed down paired with a drunk group of non golfers one group ahead of us. Course marshall was no where to be found to keep the pace. Not sure if there even was one on duty today. By hole 9 the drunk group was in the club house so my group decided to proceed on to hole 10 to get ahead but shortly later the drunks came back and passed us with no respect and skipped ahead to hole 11 and while we where putting out on 10 they were antagonizing my group and being disrespectful from the tee box of 11. This was the final straw and me and my group left the course. I will non stand to have a group of drunk hacker hoodlums curse at me and threaten me on a golf course. It took us 3.5 hours to play 9 holes that came with one dead cart and a group of disrespectful hacker players yelling and harassing my group. We were able to get a full refund for our round so good on the staff for doing that.
Going in the right direction
Wow, first time playing this course in over a year.
Still a work in progress, this course finally has grass. I love the layout and will be looking forward to returning. The back nine has no par 4's now but give the course a few months and it will be worth playing regularly.
Great course
It looks like they are working hard to get this course to its best condition. Great staff!!! Looking forward to playing it once the construction is complete
