The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Lack of Service
Had a 7:06 tee time. Arrived 30 minutes early to pay and warm up. The staff did not have the place ready to go. Got down to the range and bought a small warm up bucket. For $5 I got 12 balls. Warmed up on the driving range then chipped and putted. Course was over saturated with water And the cart was sliding more than driving on the course. A refreshment cart never came around. Do they have one? I don’t know. Surprising that they didn’t for a weekend. Group in front of us was playing incredibly slow by the 12th hole. Called the club house and they assured they would take care of it. No one ever did. Finished the round at 5 hours. Went to the bar and grill for a post round beer and hot dog. Beer was not the beer advertised and the hot dog was not properly cooked. I hope they improve because the course has the makings of being something great. They just weren’t great today.
Course is a little tough challenging but overall fun can the price is right shot 85 13 handicap
Links style
this is definitely set up links style, which is a nice change from the typical golf course. A few blind shots, and a few places where you couldn't see the dry creek, but that added to the links atmosphere.
Great Layout Has the Potential to be A Gem
This was my first time out to Summerly and I was very impressed with the authentic links golf feel. The course condition left something to be desired but if they can get the fairways and greens in good shape this course would be an absolute gem. From what I’ve read they are moving in the right direction and to be fair, it’s been a hot summer. I’ll definitely be back though.
Great course
Good course however there are some tough burns in front of several greens. Overall I love playing this course.
lots of rabbit pooh on the greens. spend more time clearing them today.
Very enjoyable tract
Links style golf...if you are accurate it is not very difficult. If you spray the ball be prepared to bring some extra balls! Course employees were wonderful, greens pretty good condition. NO trees....
Value Course
Played here a few years back and liked it, but it was too young. Things have progressed and the course is in better shape, good, not great, but a terrific value with the Golf Moose/Underpar deal I used
Desert links
The course is currently mostly dry, the water ditches that criss-cross several of the fairways are dry. The grass is patchy in places but you should expect that on this style of desert course, with stretches of Arroyo that are playable. The greens were in fair condition with some patches but nothing to complain about. It was 96F and there was no shade, there are no trees! Staff were great, restaurant open. Enjoy!
links course
course conditions are 100% improved from a year ago, last year it was almost unplayable. When you pick a cart check for the color red on the batteries, the cart guy told us those are the newer ones. Our cart crapped out after 6 holes.Water in the burns now.
Great Links Course Great Condition
Played here twice last month. Greens well taken care of. Fairways green and decent even for how hot it has been in the area lately. Awesome driving range right next to hole 1. Great value for what feels like a mid/high priced course. Tricky, 2nd round was much better than the first and I like having to learn as I go. Ball placement is key. Beautiful course that to me stands out from the rest nearby. Definitely worth a try. I did not play this course in the past but comparing reviews to now, it seems to have come a long way under new management.
Course is greener
I used to play this course years ago when this course first opened and was in great condition. I stopped playing here when the course deteriorated to dirt. After seeing some recent posts that the conditions had improved and there was significant improvement in the grass coverage, I decided to check it out. I was impressed at the amount of green grass on the course. The tee boxes were excellent. My tee shots found grass most of the day. Lots of grass around the greens. There were a lot of unfixed ball marks on the greens due to rude players who did not take the time to fix their ball marks. Bottom line - the conditions of the course has drastically improved. Although more work is needed, the course is enjoyable to play and is no longer dirt. The burns are a unique feature of the course and add to the ambience. They force you to pick the right club to layup or fly the burns. This is a links style course so not sure why some folks have a issue with the burns. I’ll be back.
