The Links at Summerly

About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Course was an absolute mess
Normally would never take the time to give a negative review, but feel it necessary. Staff was very friendly, but that was the only upside to the experience. I’ve golfed this course with my father in law numerous times in the past. I’ve never seen the course condition in such bad shape and to make matters even worse the bar/food option has been removed. At the turn was looking forward to some food and beverage, however was completely shocked to see everything closed. The employees at the front had no explanation and simply said they hope it changes for the good soon. Some of them openly admitted that the owner stopped paying the water bills and has given up hoping for new buyers. I really used to live this course because it was reasonable and fun. Until they start taking care of it I will be going elsewhere. Save the $.
Course conditions
The absolute worst conditioned course in the United States. I cannot believe there is a course worse shape. The greens have a fungus and are all unputtable. The fairways are just as bad. 50% mud and dirt. Had to pick up my ball all day and find a piece of grass to hit off of.
I guess that’s why it was $22 to play w a cart.
course is in pretty bad shape but i think they are trying hard get to get back. I do like the course.
Nice links course
Got to be first out this morning. Weather was perfect. Tough links style conditions. Challenging and fun, can’t beat the value.
Excellent links experience
I play here often. Course layout is a 10/10. This track is very challenging for golfers of all skill levels. I was told the back 9 will be back open Monday so will be back next week!
Looking better
Fun time today playing the links! Fairways and greens are looking better. Looking forward to the back 9 opening back up. Just need some sand in the bunkers now
Played here despite reading the reviews
Ok, so yes, I read the reviews and thought " it can't be that bad..." Heading out to warm up for a round at another higher level course. Met a guy "Victor " in the lot and we set out... it is really unfortunate, the tract is great! Alas, it pains me to say that I will probably not return. A massive cash infusion is needed...super foggy, not their problem, so i played the Blues so not to lose any balls.Ended up shooting 80, which is super good for me, despite the plinko type greens, and barely existent fairways.
Concerns
We were told the course is reseeding the back nine so we played the front nine twice. However the front nine we played was over watered with a lot of mud and sloppy fairways. Bar and restaurant were closed pro shop with very little inventory giving the appearance that this course won’t be open much longer. I hope I’m wrong because I have played many enjoyable rounds here but have my concerns.
Great links course
I play here often for the fun unique layout and the challenging play. The back 9 is closed for overseen right now so you play the front 9 twice. The fairways are filling in nicely, improving week to week. The greens got hit hard this summer so there's some good and bad areas. Nonetheless they still roll decent. As traditional to links courses, there are burns throughout the course. It is imperative you know where they are so you can decide if you can carry or need to lay up. The course guide is free if you ask the pro shop guys for 1. Overall this place is a lot of fun, excellent value, and conditions are improving.
Condition is terrible
The course was I'n horrendous shape, greens and fairways need so much work. It's really sad to see a course with so much personality in its current shape. The tee boxes were actually pretty good, to be positive
Worst condition of a course I’ve ever seen
Absolute joke. Only paid 15 dollars from a hot deal and even then felt overcharged. Left after 2 holes. Can’t even put or see a fairway, they are complete dirt .
Fun, budget course
Fun place to practice. Course is far from perfect and priced accordingly. Still very enjoyable especially if you’re a decent ball striker. Even with the tough conditions I still shoot mid 70’s regularly
Need to bring 2 dozens ball to play this course
I know this is not the real link course like British open, but all the fairways are really messed up. I have never lost so many balls in one round of golf. The green condition is almost horrible. Overall, this course needs new management and need it quick
Worst course I’ve ever played
This is the worst course I’ve ever played, I saw more dirt than grass on every fairway. It is drier than a desert and needs a couple of hurricanes to come through and water it. I have never been to a golf course and couldn’t wait to leave but this was my first. I would not pay anything over 2 bucks to play this course again and that includes cart fees. The course is for sale so I expect it to be closing soon.
