The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Makes you think!
Very friendly staff. I enjoyed the course. The design makes you think! I think playing the course several times is essential if you want to score low. The conditioning of the course will be the primary thing that might be complained about. However, several fairways on the back nine were being sodded and much work was being done. The front nine was in overall decent shape. I plan to play this course again in a few months to see if their hard work pays off. I hope that once the work is completed the course will be watered well enough to keep it in great shape!
Should have been more honest about the course condition.
When I booked the course it said “some holes under construction”. There should have been more details such as holes from 12 through 17 had been turned to short par 3’s. That’s 6 Holes out of the back 9. The green fees had not been properly adjusted for that in my opinion. The course knew they could still draw players due to the current Covid-19 conditions, but I don’t think they’ll get any repeat customers.
Lots of work being done
The Links at Summerly is a decent course. However, there were 4 holes that they shortened significantly and one hole we could not play at all. On top of that, they had just laid down manure and it smelled awful on the back 9. The starter was very helpful and friendly. The rest of the course was challenging and fun, but the smell took away from the enjoyment.
Nice Course, but under some construction
Greens were great. Course looking way better. One hole closed for sodding, with two other part 4 made par 3 for sod. This is a good thing for future rounds.
Fall from Grace
We had made reservations for a morning tee time over a week ago, but this morning at 5:30 am we received an email telling us several holes on the course were closed or modified due to construction. Why wasn't this information provided to us at the time of the reservation, so we would have had time to change our plans if so desired. I realize they are working on the course conditions, but currently the course is basically unplayable. The only good part are the greens. they are in good shape. I only dealt with one employee, but he was friendly and extremely helpful. This was a great course in its time and the layout can't be beat. The only thing we can hope for is at sometime it will return to its past glory. For now I would recommend staying away, unless you just want to hit the ball around.
Not ready for golf
I really wanted to like this course. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Greens were recently punched. They rolled horrible. Extremely slow and bumpy. Would have been nice for a heads up when I called. There are no flags in. Just a raised cup. Our 4 some had to make sure to keep up with the twosome in front of us in order to know how to approach the green. Also, 13 was turned into a 100 yard par three that you hit off a crappy mat. 14 was completely closed so that was a bummer. Again, would have been nice to know when we checked in. Course was DRYYYYY. Alot of big rocks just off the fairway. Tee boxes were in great shape. Even with all that, I played well and it was great to get out. Drove up from San Diego and I most definitely will never play here again and def won't refer this course to friends, unfortunately.
Do not play
The golf course it not ready for play 18 holes. 3 joles are under repairs . June 2020 may be good ttime to play
Course conditions progressing
I’ve been playing here almost weekly since the beginning of this year. Course conditions continue too improve. They were sodding two holes during my last round, which I was notified of beforehand.
Having played a few other courses in the area around the same price point, I find this course to be my favorite. The staff is friendly, food good and drink prices fair.
Links at Summerly.... Keep doing what your doing, the course is coming along great.
Review
Course was under construction with one par 5 closed and two par 4 moved up to par 3. Lots of rocks on the bunkers and edge of fairways. Staff was super nice and good safety and social distance in place.
badly managed
badly managed course, so crowded, not to combine groups into 4 some when busy. many guys got through randomly and rudely. prepare 5.5 hours to finish.
A tale of two nines
Front 9 was great! Back 9 is very rough 13th hole is closed two others are being re soded with very short par3s but it was great to be golfing again
Horrible conditions
I really wanted to like this course because they were one of the first courses open after the Covid-19 restrictions were reduced for golf in Riverside County, but this was honestly the worst conditioned course I haver ever played and I have been playing golf 25 years and have played a lot of dog tracks over the years. The course should probably be shut down for play. There is more dirt than grass on the fairways. I’m talking huge swaths of dirt in the middle of the fairway with little patches of grass. It looked like a moonscape. And the course had these stupid “burns” running through half the holes that you can’t see until you are a few yards away. I don’t get the point of these. I guess to make it like a links course but come on. Ridiculous. It’s a shame because the layout (except for the burns) is pretty fun. I wouldn’t play here again on a bet
Fairways need grass, Greens are good
Course is still lacking much grass on most fairways. Seems a forever problem. You’d think if they dumped a ton of grass seed doing a hole a t a time it would fill in
Much improved
The course was much improved over the last playing but still needs attention. It’s good to see they are on the right track.
Gone down hill!
This course wasn’t bad the last time I played it but today it was by far the worst course I’ve been to! Dry grass everywhere bunker with large rocks everywhere the tee box’s were uneven oh and not to mention the construction everywhere! The might be going through a revamp but it will be a very long time before I go back which suck because it’s 10 minutes from my house! In my opinion the fees they are charging aren’t worth playing there
