River Oaks Golf Club

I had a scheduling issue with the River Oaks Golf in Nicolaus a while back. They pushed our 8 am tee time back 3 hours. Due to time restraints we had to cancel upon check in.This did not set well with the group. So I decided to write to the manger and express my concern for how that was handled. Mr Nick Podesta the manger explained and agreed it was their fault and stated that's not the way River Oaks does business. So Nick stepped up, as all business's should and offered a free round to our foursome. Which by the way we just played 7-21-22, so thank you Nick!

Back in the day that's how business was done, your owned your mistake and you took carte of it.

The course was almost empty due to the hot weather. Great conditions for practicing.

Good place to play. Fairways, bunkers, greens, and tee boxes all in good condition. Range balls a bit over priced. Good practice facility with grass range, practice bunker, putting green. Tight layout, so keep your wits about you when other groups are teeing off. Worth a visit, especially if you can find a discounted tee time. Couple former ponds are now dry, making the layout much less punishing than it might be otherwise.

Anytime you’ve a chance to play the game just enjoy it! Course is in excellent shape.

Never lose my ball here, wide and fun. Little out of the way and there's no drink cart but otherwise, great. Good drinks, too.

The course was in good shape, and the pace of play was perfect. The temperature was a bit hot, but otherwise everything was perfect.

This was my 3rd trip up to River Oaks. Grabbed a great deal on Golfnow as I am tired of a $75 round at average courses in Placer County. The course was in great condition, greens were slow but smooth. Bunkers had actual sand in them. Check in was fine, but worker was grumpy. My main issue was the pace of play. Teed off 10 minutes late for an 8:45 tee time and finished the first 9 holes in 2 hours, 40 minutes. That is not a fun Saturday for me so I called it after 9 holes

There was one person ahead of us playing two balls throughout the whole round. There was a group ahead of him but they would be on their 2nd shot before the single person would even get to the tee box. Didn't seem right and one of the groundskeeper saw it and agreed that the person shouldn't have been playing 2 balls like that. Nothing was done when we called into the clubhouse, since there were no Marshalls on the course. So our group had to deal with it and continue to watch the single person play out each hole with two balls. Unfortunate because the course was nice and fun to play. Susi chicken tacos hit the spot too after our round.

Love this track! While there are areas where more investment in the property would go a long way (cart paths, on course water dispensers, visual aids at tee boxes showing the hole) the things that are directly controllable (greens, friendliness of staff, fairways, bunkers, etx) are all great!

The course was in great shape, the price was low, and the weather was perfect. I had wonderful time at River Oaks.

I hadn’t played here in years but I was in the neighborhood so I thought I’d give it a try. I was placed with three other singles but they never showed at the tee time. I waited for a bit but then took off on my own. They don’t have a starter here so that made it a little hard. Once going I caught up to a foursome in front of me. After 4 holes another single caught up to me and he joined for a couple holes since he was only playing 9. Over all the course seemed to be in good shape, several fun holes and tee boxes in good shape. I’d recommend this course if you’re in the area.
