River Oaks Golf Club

Great bloody Mary's, most of staff is friendly. Gets backed up on occasion, several 3 pars. Hard to get to. Some water, some marsh, couple blind holes. Signage is decent, cart paths don't go thru the whole course. No drink cart or real bathrooms on course. Would go more if it were in better location.

The course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen. Greens rolled excellent, although they were a little soft do to the watering to keep them green. Bunkers were well maintained. The only draw back was pace of play. I was the third group off and the two groups in front of us were terribly slow. They played from the black tees and on more than one occasion, several of the players failed to make it past the red tee markers. There was no marshal out to ensure pace of play was adhered to.

The River Oaks GC management decided to stop using sand. The bunkers were the worst I've ever seen. No sand in the cart bottles therefor nobody was fixing their divots.

I asked the Starter in the Proshop why no sand and he said it was a management decision.

I will never play there again unless they stop this insanity!

Could use a level of difficulty

If not for the hot humid weather, this would have been a perfect round of golf.

At one point, we could see 5 holes together with almost every hole with players. The pace was slow due to some players ahead of us were playing as they were playing playing in the FedEx championship, measuring each lies on the greens and practice swinging multiple times, sometimes even after they hit the balls. Just amazing!! Normally, we can finish the 18 holes in about 3.5 hours but this time, it was 4.45 hours. A couple of times, the players hit the balls onto us , while we were putting, almost landing on our greens. Annoying. Well, we enjoyed our game anyway. The one good thing about this outing was the early start for a Hot Deal.

The course is fair and actually fun but no Marshall on entire course, no cart girl for weekend golf? No starter at #1 tee, groups going off when they want, lots of twosome groups and the shop needs to be making these into foursomes, a family of 4 and 3 in front joined together at tee #2 so me and my buddy played behind a group of 7. Range balls are the worst I've even seen and they charge $7 for a small bucket

Never again will I ever play here!

The weather was very hot, but still had an excellent time. I practically had the course to myself.

There was no starter on 1st tee. I felt like a group jumped in front of us. No announcement from pro shop so players are left to work it out, hopefully with no conflicts in this day and age. Never know who is packing.

I had a scheduling issue with the River Oaks Golf in Nicolaus a while back. They pushed our 8 am tee time back 3 hours. Due to time restraints we had to cancel upon check in.This did not set well with the group. So I decided to write to the manger and express my concern for how that was handled. Mr Nick Podesta the manger explained and agreed it was their fault and stated that's not the way River Oaks does business. So Nick stepped up, as all business's should and offered a free round to our foursome. Which by the way we just played 7-21-22, so thank you Nick!

Back in the day that's how business was done, your owned your mistake and you took carte of it.
