River Oaks Golf Club

I really don’t want to write this review because I want this course to remain hidden but it’s an amazing course the greens are always groom correctly and the people there are extremely friendly I will give this 10 stars out of five.

Great for beginners or those looking for less challenging shots off the tee. Not much in the way of woods or tall grass to get lost in. Sloped greens and bunkers on approach offer good short game challenges. Not much in the way of a clubhouse, small range, and cart paths are bumpy and not well maintained. Great walking course as it is pretty tight. Very forgiving course. A few beautiful holes mixed in.

Nice course, good greens, challenging yet forgiving...drove an hour to play here and was well worth the trip!

Course was in great shape! Wouldn’t mind playing it again. Although a long drive for us, it was worth it!

Some reviews have inflated the expectations somewhat. Course in reasonable shape but not manicured like implied by others, tees and fairways ok, some patchy areas but winter golf is what it is. The greens here, while somewhat firm and healthy, are unreasonably slow. Terribly slow. Unbelievably. SLOW. The front layout is average for a public course but tees are spaced out nicely so it feels there is some separation but the back is open and hole 15 is a beauty. Fairways are generous here with more emphasis on approach accuracy. Some drivable par 4's from the white tees, which are quite short looking back at it. With the speed of the greens the course had no real defense and I ended up with a 79 and with a number like that I would be thrilled to return and try again but only if I knew the greens were reasonable to putt.

Second time in two weeks playing this course and both times was awesome! Definitely will be on the list of favorites! Can’t wait to go back!

I can’t tell you how happy and shocked I was to see how well the course looked today. A first and second cut, immaculate greens, the fairways even had the dark green and light green strips like you see on the tour. They really do a fantastic job. It’s better kept than my home club! Only thing, maybe put a restroom somewhere on the back 9 and some soap on the bathrooms. But love this course and would recommend to anyone.

It seemed all par threes were long and challenging, especially the wind was 20 - 30 mph.

I had a great time at River Oaks. The course conditions were great for the money. I’ve been to several courses in Sacramento recently that have sketchy fairways and greens, and would def recommend giving this spot a try before hitting off dirt fairways elsewhere. I suggest reading reviews before playing any course as well. Also, the pace of play was solid. I plan on coming back in the future. I almost forgot to mention, the course doesn’t play tough, so it’s a pretty smooth ride.

I Love this course and all it offers! Different elements each time playing here. Today it was waiting for the Dew Frost to dry, so that was about a 45 minute delay to my 8am start time. Greens were firm but not fast? Well manicured fairways, bunkers, and deep roughs. Plenty of odd wind elements when playing 3,4,8, and 11 due to the River and orchards. Thanks again. Still haven't broke 80 here, so I WILL BE BACK!!!
