Great course to play
We love this course. Relatively easy and short but an enjoyable place to play.
return to River Oaks
It's been over a year since I last played R.V. Wow, what a change, they have done a lot of work and made the course so much more player friendly, can't wait to play again! Thanks, Bob
River Oaks
As a novice, 60+ golfer I find River Oaks to be a great place to improve my game. I have played 4 times in the last 40 days and would recommend it to anyone.
Not a bad course.
I've golfed river oaks numerous times. I rate the staff between a one and a two they never seem like they're in the mood to help you. Amenities on the course I rate a two. There are only three water jugs on the whole course. They do not have a beer cart. And only one ball washer per tee box and it's back at the expert tees. They also do not have a martial keeping the pace of play there was a foursome in front of us that was taking way too long. On a positive note the course is very well taken care of they use lots of water there are no dead grass spots and the greens are almost too wet. The layout is great all in all the golf experience is good.
The course is in nice shape
I like the wide Fairways and little trouble to get into. A little less challenging but nice to play with one ball. The greens are in good shape. A little on the slow side but that too is kind of nice.
This course is in great shape.
Had a great time. The course is in fantastic shape. It is worth the drive.
Get a Map!
Once we figured out the layout for many of the holes, we were able to enjoy playing. Some blind tee shots would have been very interesting without the course map offered at the pro shop. The soft greens took some getting used to. Fortunately the practice green was in similar shape. All in all, the course was nice and green and made for a very pleasant afternoon.
great bargin
course is in great shape--very green fairways--no dead spots-and greens are in good shape-moderate speed-lakes filled up--bunkers in consistent--some soft-some harder -good price on weekdays
Course is better but has a ways to go
Having a new golf pro has definitely helped. I can see the improvement over last year. In the spirit of helping this upward trend, I offer the following. First, the grass on the tee boxes is too thick and/or long. My 2 1/2" tees couldn't be stuck in the ground and have enough tee above ground for my ball to be at the right height. This was very frustrating. Second, while the greens are very yielding to approach shots, they are spongy and considerably slower than other courses in the area. The good news is I stuck some approach shots, the bad news is I left too many putts shorts. Let them dry out a bit and roll them please.
Country golf
Loved the fact that River Oaks is a green Oasis west of Nowhere . Really ,about 30 minutes west of Lincoln. Was surprised at how green the course was. Good layout, many beautiful old Oaks. Quick pace. Looks like locals run the course. Would definitely play again.

great day
Challenging but forgivings course. People have
treated us well at the course. Will go back again.
This course gotta get its act together
If you like teeing off in high grass, then this is the course for you. If you like the constant sound of lawn mowers in your ears while you're trying to take your shot, then this is the course for you. You wouldn't mind the noise so much if the mowers properly mowed tee boxes but such was not the case on this day. The mowers seemed to be mowing all the holes we were trying to play except for tee boxes. Otherwise, this course has potential. The rough is tough as you get horrible lies, especially around the greens. The greens itself are fine. Bring a lot of tall tees, otherwise you'll fee like your teeing off from the rough. Played this course twice within a week and the tee boxes still were bad. I actually teed off from divots as those were the only spots where the grass was lower. I'd play the course again the next time I'm in the area.
Worth the drive
I hadn't played River Oaks since last summer. I noticed a vast improvement in the course and added challenges to several holes. There's water in the hazards, more sand traps with better than average sand, green fairways and greens. . With a girls golf program and a female pro, it appears they are on the right track. The overall attitude of the staff is vastly improved and I'm looking forward to playing it again.
Would Definitely Play again.
Nice layout, wide fairways, some trees, some water and the greens were in good condition. Worth the drive if you haven't played before.
Greens keeping
The only complaints I have is the rough is way to tall for the average golfer, the fringe is the height of the rough at most courses and the sand traps are horrible. Some traps only have an 1/8" of sand with hard clay underneath. With a little TLC this course would be a solid 4 star
Recommend once greens are rolled
Layout is very nice, Service is very friendly and genuine. We choose this course as it always had great greens - not this time. Greens need attention to make it worth the trip.
Orchard Gem
This 6000 yard course set among the orchards in a rural community was fun to play. I played with a couple who travels a considerable distance because they say the course is never really crowded. The course does show some minor effects from the prolonged drought and early spring. I encountered some patchy areas around the several of the greens and occasionally on the fairway. The greens were predominately small and the breaks extremely subtle. I found myself not playing enough break on several of the greens. Many of the fairways has doglegs; more than I have seen at any other courses. The course is a good test of your short game. I will play it again!
