Could not spend time with a beer with golfing frends

5 Years later my wife and I, on a whim, decided to take the short trip to revisit River Oaks GC...What a pleasant surprise! Perfect weather, well-maintained fairways, and the greens were in excellent shape - slow due to late afternoon blooming - but in excellent condition. Highly recommend this little gem by the Sacrament River for those looking for great value, a solid pace of play, and a course that is well-maintained!

Had the course practically to my self. It was very windy, but the course was in good shape.

Greens are exceptional today! Pace of play was unexpectedly fast also. Enjoyed the company and game very much.

Great course for the price. Well kept. They just got new carts. The only thing I would change is to have a phone number, to the grill, on the 9th tee so you could call in an order. Speed up play a bit.

Fairways were not mowed down, grass was too tall in some fairways. Rough was thick, which is understandable. Greens were running ok, considering that they were not cut shorter.

Overall decent course, challenging layout.

My friends and I love playing at River Oaks but the pace of play there is awful. We would love to see a little more time before tee off or enforcing a faster pace

When we were checking in, we were informed the front 9 was closed to carts. Since they didn’t have enough pull carts for our group, we had to play the back 9 twice.

If we had known prior to the day, we could have arranged to bring our own pull carts.

The back 9 was in great shape.

The course was in good condition for all the rain we’ve had over the last month. As to be expected there were some wet areas, but no standing water!!! The greens were in excellent condition soft, but rolled true!! The staff is always very friendly and helpful!!!

The greens are in the best shape I have seen for the last several years. Great course to play and make sure to try the food.

It was a cold, windy day. Greeens were in excellent condition--good speed and smooth. Tee to green it was typical winter conditions, so expect it to be a little sloppy in areas. Course was drier than I thought it would be, so that was a good surprise. But electric power carts are old. We needed to replace our power cart twice on the front nine (had to walk back to the clubhouse on the 2nd hole), then got another cart replacement after nine holes. Third power cart was excellent--strong "juiced up" battery. I ended up with an excellent score due to eight one-putts and 50% greens in regulation, surprisingly, despite the poor weather.

It’s in the middle of nowhere but great value. The greens were in really good shape as was the course overall. There’s no marshal at this course but it’s never an issue with pace of play. Kid at the golf carts found us and returned a range finder after a cart exchange following the front 9. They have a grill and drinks but even if you bring your cooler you won’t get harassed about it.

Course is a fun course to play! Greens are very nice, and fast!

Electric carts are becoming a problem! in each of our last 4 rounds we had to swap out carts that were sputtering intermittently or were about to die. Yesterday we swapped one out for a different one after hole 9 and the new one barely made it through the back nine. Not a deal breaker, just irritating.
