River Oaks Golf Club

Our tee time was 7:20. They didn’t open until 7:00. Bland design. Thick grass so your ball is likely to sit up in the fairway. Decent bunkers. Slow greens. Excellent pace of play.

Overall the round was good. Nice course and layout. However, the green were unusually slow relative to many other courses. They seem to be “fuzzy”. First time playing the course, perhaps they were soon to be cut/rolled. Because they were so unusually slow, I did not adjust my putting stroke for just one round, which cost me serval strokes. I will likely play the course again, and then determine if the slow green are normal. Other than that I recommend the the course.

The greens and fairways were well kept. The course was fairly wide open but the lakes and sand traps do provide a good challenge.

A fun course to play not too much trouble and usually in good shape !

Challenging par 3 from black tips. Water hazards and tough putting greens.

Greens were aerated few weeks prior so ball rolling were not true.

If not for the 10 - 16 mile per hour gusts of wind the round would have been perfect. I had a terrific time at River Oaks.

If you pick your times and temperatures you can pretty much play as fast as you want. I played as a single yesterday and finished in 2 1/2 hours. thanks to courteous 4somes letting me through. Few players when it gets very hot in the afternoons.

River Oaks has come a long way from being closed due to the flooding back in 2017. Fairways are almost entirely grass now instead of clover and crab grass. Grounds crew is doing an excellent job maintaining the course. Looks like some trees went down during this years wind storms. My one complaint is there isn't a starter. My tee time was approaching and a threesome came driving up and teed off. They were either really late for their tee time or they jumped ahead and I was held up for the entire round
