Bolingbrook Golf Club

I got to play on a crazy windy day, teeing off after work and racing daylight, so I was trucking around trying to finish (not taking any pix this day).

I like the place, an Arthur Hills design, who has some nice places to his credit. (I highly recommend Washington County Golf in Wisconsin). Conditions are very consistent - I would have been more inclined to give 5 stars (and probably would later in the year) but the greens had been punched. I know this is a necessary thing, but no one told me during my visit that I'd be encountering this; I do think they should. Otherwise, a lot of big greens with some undulation (slowed by rain, punch today). Tee boxes are mostly flat and in good condition, and the fairways and rough are very fully-grassed. They've created some fun elevations changes, which I enjoyed. I only hit 2 bunkers, and it may be a function of this time of year, but they were a bit weak - both times they seemed thin on sand. Maybe the rain did this; it was a minor detraction. The par 5s are very gettable from the white tees, so that's a good chance to score. A few holes are much more fun the second time around, 6, 7 and 11, all position tee shot holes, are fun. The par 3s had serious wind a few times, which made them harder than they really are; outside of that they're pretty tame.

I like 17, a great driving hole and design, but 18 is kinda weak to finish your day. A lot of very friendly rough around here, and had I not been playing into a 3 club wind (seriously!!), I could have scored 5-8 shots better, but I got out of there in 2.5hrs and shot 84, so no real complaints.

Overall a very solid facility, if not a stunner in design. I find them very consistent on conditioning (which can't be overlooked) and would definitely be good returning or playing here regularly if I lived here.

Always enjoy this course - just keep the greens acceptable to good shots - not too hard.

I really like this course and the facility. I just wish they’d disclosed that the green had been airated last week. Putting was kind of a joke.

Staff was excellent. Amenities were great even in inclement weather. Would play again & again.

Given the challenging weather and amount of rain over the last few months the course was in very good shape. Bunkers were a little rough but pretty much in line with early spring expectations. Playing off Blues this early in the season was probably not a good decision based on wind conditions and combined skill level of our group but overall a good experience.

The only complaint I had was with pace of play. we teed off at 2:10 and by the 3rd hole we were waiting anywhere from 5-10 minutes -- especially on the tee box. didn't finish the round until after 7 PM. Our cart died on the 17th hole and we had to walk the last hole which added a little time but we didn't tee off 18 until almost 6:50.

The slow pace was unusual based on the last few times I played this course and can probably be attributed to the windy conditions but would have been helpful to see marshals out on the course keeping everyone closer to expected pace.

Looking forward to getting out there again in a few weeks when the weather stabilizes.

We had a blast! The weather was showing very nice numbers for over a week but didn’t cooperate. It was pretty chilly,but we had fun!! Staff very friendly and helpful. Food is very good!! We ll be back as soon as we can!

Playing in November so just happy to be out. Course was in good shape considering time of year. Nice carts with gps and USB ports. Would definitely play this course again.

The problem with my round is that it took 5 hours, the courses rangers need to take some initiative to warn slow groups or accommodate groups behind them.

Greens rolled true. They were fast and in pretty good shape. Always enjoy the layout and challenge.

The course is known for always having heavy winds. If you do not have a reliable knockdown shot I would avoid this course. I would not call this a links setup. Its true that the course has few trees but there is a ton of water. Most of the bunkers are not that penal but due to the wind you need to be very accurate of the tee. High ball hitters will struggle on this course. Based on the usual conditions I feel the course design is too tricked up.

Very friendly staff good amenities but pace of play was very slow. Course in good condition.

From the minute we were greeted till when we left the "Nest" (restaurant name) it was a wonderful expierience!

They do nothing to maintain pace. A 5 hour round is NEVER acceptable let alone with a tee time before 8. The group in front of us arrived to the tee 3 minutes past their start time without shoes even on.

I know they need revenue but you are basically telling everyone else playing, we find this acceptable etiquette.

Great course! Tee boxes were perfect. Didn't have to search around for a good standing spot.i hate when tee boxes are all "chewed" up. The size of the tee boxes allow for tees to moved to enough spots for them to recover.speaking of tee boxes, they have plenty to choose from. You can score well here if you play to your handicap as per tee suggestions. Most fairways are a must to hit since the sides slope off and sends your ball into the thick "cabbage". You will be lucky to find your ball.The bunkers are deep and thickness of sand is great!.the greens were spectacular not a mark on them. The included practice range is always great. also very large which made for great grass to hit off with plenty of targets. Do yourself a favor and play this spectacular course.

Not sure if it's a regular problem, but my first-ever round at "Boringbrook" lasted 5 hours 16 minutes!
