TPC Harding Park ranks among the most famous municipal courses in the country, along with Torrey Pines South and Bethpage Black. TPC Harding Park, which is part of the San Franciso Recreation and Parks Department, hugs the shores of Lake Merced in close proximity to the Lake Merced Golf Club, The Olympic Club and San Francisco Golf Club. Dating to 1925, it has a long history of tournament golf among its stately Monterey Cypress trees. Byron Nelson won back-to-back San Francisco Opens in 1944-45. The PGA Tour's Lucky International in the 1960s attracted winners such as Gary Player (1961), Gene Littler (1962), Jackie Burke Jr. (1963), Ken Venturi (1966) and Billy Casper (1968).

After falling on hard times, the course received a $16-million renovation in 2002-03 that brought it back into the tournament fold, hosting the 2005 World Golf Championship-American Express Championship, the 2015 WGC-Match Play Championship, The Presidents Cup in 2009, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship from 2010-12 and the 2020 PGA Championship, its first major.

I have loved the layout at Harding Park for over 35 years.

It is obvious that they are letting the greens and bunker go with little care and maintenance. I'm sure they will be fantastic when they redo them all, but right now it is not great.

Good, great looking, and challenging course, on the pricey side.

It's a beautiful course, well-maintained except for a couple of items. One of the course ball washers was dry as a bone and there needs to be one more bathroom well-located on the course. There's only one stall that I saw out on the course and it's pretty nasty. Considering the price, I expected better.

Wish there was water.

Golf course was fun. Scenery was great. Got to about the 8th hole and really wanted some water.Continue playing thinking there would be some water. There was no water. I know I was not prepared. I just really thought there should have been a water station or two. Over all I have fun on the course but they wanted 155 dollars for a non resident walking. Way to much. Lower the price and add some amenities and I would go back.

The course is in great shape, friendly staff, very scenic

The starter provided some snacks on the first tee & at the turn. Was given the option of riding, a pull cart, or walking. Might be a little difficult carrying the bag, but possible. The staff is as good as Pebble. Great views including Olympic Club in the background.

Can't wait till they upgrade all the greens after December and eradicate the existing Poa annua greens.

Fairways and t- boxes in great shape. Bunker sand was very consistant. Beware of the old Cypress trees.

TPC - Harding

Great iconic course located in the heart of the City, perfect weather and little wind. Steep green fees if you are not a local, but everyone should play this track at least once.

Not worth the money.

No carts on the fairways, EVER. Not much different from the old course. Greens were just so-so. Range is an absolute disgrace. Staff was nice. Not a bad course, just not worth anywhere near 100+ dollars.

Great public track

Harding is a well-maintained public course. In my opinion, it is a forgiving course -- flat lies and the ability to play in adjacent fairways -- with the most challenge on the last 5-6 holes.

I would be reluctant to spend more than the SF resident card rate, but with that deal, this beats Presidio in value by a long shot.

Beautiful course, challenging but not aggravating

The course was in great shape with the greens running true and moderately fast. The GolfNow discounted price of $80 made it a value for the quality and condition of the course.

Walk this course

The course should be walked. Carts are never allowed on the fairways so getting a cart does not reduce the walking and quite probably increases it if you make an extra trip back to the cart to get the right club.

The greens were not in excellent shape, but overall the course is decently maintained.

Scenic course in very nice shape.

Not 'pristine' as in the choices above but better than average condition, especially for this time of year. Fairways are wide but I thought it played a little harder than the slope rating. Sand in the bunkers was surprisingly nice in a few cases. Weather can be a factor but we had a warm, sunny afternoon.

At $80, it's good value. It was cart path only, which I think is often the case there.

This great course is in the mood.

This is one of the greatest courses I have ever played. The golf course is truly superb and, furthermore, Harding Park is in the mood. It's mainly because of all those old pine trees and beautiful views. While the flat Front 9 is already gorgeous, the Back 9 is more challenging with up and down. Both 9 are so beautiful.
If you have a free day in San Francisco, this is the one you should play.

This course is beautiful

There were a lot of mud on the fairway. Rough is tough to play out of. Some bunkers have water in it as well. Cart path only definitely made it difficult at times.
Overall, this course offers a lot of great/challenging feature with a great environment/view. Play condition could have been better, but it is what it is.

Great Course, nice view.

I'll come back to play. I like back nine more than front nine especially hole 18.

Rainy weather made the course swampy

I've played this course several times before, and it's been great to play. I find it hard to blame the course for its poor playability on this day because it was mostly due to the weather - rain in the past few days and AM before our round. This made the course pretty "soupy", even on the teeboxes. Quite a few balls plugged. The 16th-18th greens were as bumpy as I've ever seen - looked like the surface of the moon. But I have to say that it's always a pleasure being out on this course. Love the layout and the classic NorCal scenery. I look forward to getting back out there on a drier day in the future! Side note: constant pops from nearby gun club are annoying; biggest issue on holes 14-17.

A bit too much hype...

Not bad but the greens need some work. A lot of $$ for a muni course but fun if the weather is good.

Great course, especially if you can get a discount through GolfNow.

Hadn't played Harding Park in a long time, and remembered the last time I played, how hard it was to get a tee time. Booking with GolfNow was simple, and the price was right!!!!

Awesome Course

Great golf course, very challenging and well maintained. Exactly what you would expect from a championship golf course
Only downside is the slow play. Can take up to 5 hours to get round 18. Not a problem if the weather is good and you are playing well but when the fog rolls in and the temperature drops it gets pretty chily....

Overpriced and Sandy Fairways

Even with discounted green fee I think the course is overpriced at $90. It is a glorified Muni Course with fees comparable to high end courses. Nothing real exciting. Flat and lined with trees. Several fairways were packed with sand and it was hard to hit an iron out of the fairway. It was like hitting out of a sand trap. Nice surroundings but wouldn't go back.
