I've seen deers, rabbits and skunks on the fairway but not a fox....and this close! That's the fun part of playing golf, you don't know who will show up! Photo submitted by junbelara on 07/09/2013

Wet, Muddy, Windy & poop
2 stars for being open during Covid and giving the locals the opportunity to play golf. Unfortunately this course is a poop hole! Literally it is! Golf and other animal poop ALL over the course. The 14th fairway is full of bird feathers on the entire apron of the fairway to the lake. Practically all areas of the course is damp and wet. Expect muddy conditions even in a dry & windy day. Your golf balls will plug after you tee off. It won't roll and will be filthy on every approach shot. Greens roll ok, a bit slow but will hold its line. Don't play any to little break. Pace of play was slow and no marshall on the course. 4.5hr round in the afternoon. I guess is normal for this course as the locals didn't care. Glad I got a chance to play here for bucket list but won't be back.
Refused to honor the cart
Booked hot deal with cart included but the course refused to honor it at check in.
Long walk to cross the channel.
Good course with abit of wind on the back nine
Monarch Bay is a good course with some challenging holes especially on the back nine when one gets the wind off the bay. The course has a number of fun holes and it is in pretty good condition.
The only negative was the pace of play was a bit slow.
Great links style course
This course is in great condition for a public course. I was pleasantly surprised by how lush the course was. A lot of sources this time of year are very dry and patchy.
Thoroughly enjoy the course. As a player new to golf it was wide open yet challenging. My only regret was not being able to finish 18 holes after a 5:20 pm tee time. I could only get to the 12th hole before it was too dark to see my ball. The course is very busy so I was placed with others to make foursomes. Play tends to be a little slow due to traffic but the view of the bay is amazing.
Nice course
Enjoy this place the course is perfectly maintained. The long grass eats your ball.
Nice course but read fine print
course was good fun. Nice breeze off the bay.. the starter was nice but seemed to be on his own.. front desk never communicated with him or announced whose in the tee.. my round if golfnow.com was supoose to come with a cart and it said on fine print.. but the stsff refused to give it to me... even showed them the email.
4.5 hrs to play
No Carts for prepaid Golfnow
Even though reserved tee time included CARTS. I was force to pay for two riders- some Covid issue. Not good politics.
Great Course. Pace of play was 4.5 hours
Course in great shape. Not too crowded today. Played mid day and played in 4.5 hours.
Still a great east bay staple
Always have enjoyed Monarch. Course is in great condition, and covid adjustments are no problem here.
Good track
I’ve been wanting to play this course for a while, and finally pulled the trigger. I’d heard pace of play was an issue, but we played at 7am, and the pace was great- we didn’t have to wait for the foursome in front of us once.
It’s a good walkable course, with occasional long walks between green to tees. The greens were in good shape, as were the fairways. Like a lot of courses, the geese seem to be a menace, making you need to watch your step when walking!
It was a beautiful day, with minimal wind. I can imagine how a windy day would make it much more challenging. I like links courses, and I liked how this one looked and played. I think it’s a good value for the money, and I’ll be back to play it again.
Long wait
First time this happened, short on carts and our 11:10am tee time didn’t go off till 1140
