Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course

Play this course 4 or 5 times a year ... nice change links course.... today was a challenge with maintenance crews all over the course replacing sod in bare spots... so wasn't a regular day of golf. But got some good practice.

I got the $35.00 special that included golf, cart, two meals and two drinks. Great links course, beautiful views, great food at a great price!

Love playing here specially with the lunch special included if booked to play before 12 PM. I do not know how they could give such a deal but thank you !!!!! The course was good as usual but still wishing to this very day that they do not have enough porta potty along the course. Too few and far in between. Other than that you have a winner here for a golf
course.

Great course for your money in this area. The views are great. You can see the bay & hills. Some short holes for scoring opportunities. Bunkers are not in the best shape. Lots of brown areas in fairways but considering the drought, I forgive them. Greens were in good shape, better than expected. Only problems were a few unfixed ball marks from players. Tee boxes weren't in the greatest shape but did not interfere with play. Food was pretty good. They have a full bar with 2 TVs if u want to sit for a while. Nice range area with plenty of bays. Also has nice short game practice area right next to start of holes 1 & 10. The wind was a huge factor late in the round on back 9. Pace of play sucked but I was in no rush. I still recommend the course for the price. It is not private country club quality but it is definitely a good course, priced appropriately and great for visitors.

Nice course, good shape, but the wind can be a huge factor. Better play earlier the better to avoid the wind.

90 bunkers on the course make it a challenging course. Perfect for my style of play. Perfectly maintained with very friendly staff. I will definitely be coming back.

Played a twosome 18 hole round in 3.5 hours. No doubt due to Masters Sunday Play, and our early start . Aside from the recently punched greens, great round and weather!!

The vistas on the course are great. I could see from San Jose to Marin County. The course is a links style course. There are very few trees. It did get windy in the late afternoon which added a challenge to playing the course. The course is a nice layout with challenges without being overwhelming. There are a few forced carries and some water hazards.

The greens had been punched and sanded about 10 days previously, so the greens were bumpy. There was no aerification warning, however.

There are a driving range, practice chipping green and bunker to use.

A fun course to play and worth returning to again.

Golfnow price is higher, pay at the course same as $29 but with a lunch, $35 even including breakfast n a sleeve of three balls. My friends complains me why we are so stupid to book from golfnow, please check your price before posting! Thanks n best regards!

The course was in pretty good conditions. Greens were rolling very well. I would play there again BUT the pace of play was pretty bad. The Marshal needs to drive around more or they need the tee times spread out a bit more. Overall good but once again the pace was the worst part

horrible pace of play. probably had to do with the fact that it was the saturday before the superbowl. tons of golfers trying to get 18 in before the superbowl. not going to golf on superbowl sunday. barely finished 18. seemed like the holes were log jammed all day. had to wait at almost every hole. the 4 some behind us was basically hitting the balls at our feet as we were driving away. we were hit our fairway shots, and their balls would already be flying at our feet. other than the pace, everything was great. great weather, great course, great value.

This course was fun! Played with two friends and met Michael. The pace of play was great. Greens are in very good shape. Don't hit your ball in the rough you won't be able to find. Beautiful scenery. Great price!

Bob manning the desk was hilarious! Good way to start the day before sunrise. You can 'upgrade' for a few more bucks to include two beverages (beer available), breakfast until 11 AM, and lunch. Couple that with a fun course and you end up on top of the world.

One bonus on the front nine was the beautiful fox we encountered just chilling near the tee box.

Signs in the Pro shop that if you have an early tee time you are required to play in 4 hours OR LESS. We were third out and the LEAD GROUP was terrible....on a five hour pace and holding up the whole course. Called in to the pro shop on the third hole to complain....but we waited on every shot. The second group got thorugh them but htey would not let us through and it was brutal...called and complained more but essentially the marshal was not willing to make them move it....BAD

I would recommend that every golf play their one round at lease.

Played from the gold tees. Par 4 rs are long. Had to hit long irons into greens after a good drive. Greens are tough. A lot of break even on short putts but rolled true

Came with free breakfast and lunch coupons with two beverages for around $55! Course was a bit muddy from the storm so had to take that in consideration. One of the longest public courses around from the tips (7k yards). With the wind, you will need luck for two holes for sure (one long par 4 and one long par 5). Pace was just ok due to cart path only (4 1/2 hours). Overall Great Value!!!

Started at 12:50 and only got through 14, even with sundown at 5:30.
