This was a 9-hole course (3 Par 4s, 6 Par 3s) that I was able to walk and play for $14 which included a senior discount during the week(Tuesday). The starter recommended playing before 9am and after 11am so I made an 11am T-time. There was no wait time during the round which took under 2 hrs. Following hole #4 and passing the 1st Tee to hole #5 (around noon) I noticed there was a women's club playing a little tournament which future players considering this course need to check if any tournaments or leagues are planned for the day. For limited time, this is a great course to play if you want to get in 4556 steps, 730 active calories, 1.89 miles in 125 minutes.

As far as the course conditions, The T-Box areas on most of the holes were dirt patches up to 2 club lengths behind the blue Tee's. Since I did not use Tee's, I played the course as far behind the blue tees where I could find grass and a flat area to stand on. The sand traps were in poor shape where they needed to add sand and needed to be raked/loosened before the course opened. The texture of the sand was basically dried up dirt. Beginners beware. The fairways were in decent shape and your short game around the green could be challenges as the course was in decent condition around the green. The greens were in pretty good shape with one of the holes having damage on the surface that was healing from what appeared to be someone driving across the green with a cart of some type. I am a pacer putter so 10 paces requires a shoulder length putting stroke. I liked the pace of these greens which allowed me to focus more on direction.

I liked the layout of the course such that I could work on my approach shots and use my irons off the Tee to place my approach shot at my favorite 80, 95 & 110 yard wedge shots.

I recommend the course if you have 2 hours during the weekday and need to get a walk in and work on your tempo to prep for your next 18 hole challenge. I would give this 3/5 stars.

I love playing this course mainly for the weather, view of the City and surrounding bay area. Staff are great, course isn't bad and pro shop has everything you forgot at home.

To start off with the positive, the starter named Jack was extremely friendly. Other than that, it was an unsatisfactory experience. We were told no carts on the nine hole, even though our reservation included a cart. We also saw many parties on the nine hole with golf carts. To Make matters worse, they gave my brother a really hard time at the pro shop for missing a Club cover from his rental. For these reasons I will not be coming here again

I've played this course many times before and been very pleased. I've also played this course many times with a cart and even though I paid for a cart through my GolfNow booking, I was denied the cart. I saw many carts on the course, even though I was told carts were not allowed on the Executive course.

Great place to bring friends who are new to the game. Short course, not alot of trees or plants to loose balls. Relaxed pace. I would definitely come back.

If you're a club member it costs $2 to play. That is priced about right. Tee boxes were dirt with craters. Pace of play brutally slow. Play 18 hole Monarch course, which is a gem.

I like the green the layout of the greens an fairways or well kept. I recommend it for the ease of walking .

A wonderful 9 hole executive layout. Greens & fairways were in great shape and the only knock was the condition of the tee-boxes, but that's probably due to the amount of play.

First 2 holes are par 3's and pace of play got much better on the 3rd hole as first par 4 helped to stretch thing out...

The fairways were mowed tight. Plenty of roll out. The greens had been punched several weeks ago and are coming in nicely.

The course is amazing, the staff is amazing, the community in itself is amazing. Seems like a lot of veterans and retirees hanging out having a good time. Family friendly. Little Dog friendly.

Always enjoy playing at Monarch Bay. Fun and challenging track with a great staff!

I checked in at the pro shop across the street. When I asked about my tee time, the pro shop staffer said the Marina 9 course was running slow.

When I checked in with the Marina 9 starter, who didn't have a tee sheet, he told me my Golfnow purchase did not entitle me to a tee time?! He said it only gave me the right to stand in line. He then pointed at a line of 16 players waiting to tee off! Instead of starting at 12:10 we teed off over 25 minutes late. From the first tee to teeing off on the second hole, 38 minutes elapsed. 4 groups were stacked up on the second tee.

The greens were in very good shape, but the tee boxes were sketchy, many just bare dirt.

Good mix of par 3 and a couple of fours to keep it interesting!

Folks are laid back and course layout is interesting…frisbee players too
