One of the biggest greens in Bay Area. I paced it off at 75 yards long!! Photo submitted by aliikane10 on 07/14/2017
Nice couse but very narrow
This is definitely a course that punishes bad shots. The fairways are tight and the greens are on the smaller side.
The course is aesthetically pleasing with plenty of elevation changes and holes that require all shot shapes. Not too many bunkers and zero water.
If you're looking to score on this course, you need to bring your A game
Don't be greedy. It will be a humbling experience
Great course. If you are >15 handicapper, leave your driver inside your car. Do not be greedy. Play by your length, nothing more. The course is not forgiving. It will be a humbling day for you.
Really nice, really tough course!
The pro shop staff was not very warm or welcoming but otherwise the course itself was awesome. The practice putting green was AMAZING and once I got out on the course it was great. This course is extremely challenging especially given the windy conditions. Playing for the afternoon/twilight rate made it a great value with the course as green and well manicured as it was. Overall, I highly recommend the course for anyone looking for a tough challenge.
Nice track!
Great track, in better shape than most in the area.
Don't agree with complaints of losing balls? If you play from the correct tee boxes, and keep it in play, you will lose very few balls! Great layout, that will have you using every club in the bag. Pace of play can be slow, but only due to folks playing from the wrong tee boxes. Please play from the tee boxes that match your HDP.....not your ego.
Trust me
This is a very visually appealing course, I live on one of the holes and love it! The course is usually well kept. BUT, it is the second highest rated public course in Norcal, very difficult. It is frustrating at times. The holes are not very long and you rarely need to pull out driver. If you are over a 10 index, you will lose lots of balls.
My biggest issue is with the golf shop staff. Today was the third time in recent months I was given a hard time for booking on Golfnow. The first time, the guy made me go get my cell phone to show him the email with my confirmation. He just couldn't believe I got that low of a rate. Today, I checked in one hour early so I could hit balls. I was a single. The guy would not give me a cart because the other 3 players had not arrived, even though I did not know them. he said they couldn't put 1 bag on a cart.
The food is really good. The drinks are very expensive and weak. 8 dollars for a well vodka/soda.
weekend weddings
Bar seems to always be closed for weekend weddings
challenging
course was challenging but fair, and in great shape.
If you can score here, you can score anywhere ;)
Today, 6/01/2016, was my third time playing this track.
This semi-public course is definitely one of the hardest in the Bay Area. If you're up to a challenge, this is the place to come.
Staff is very friendly and the cart-lady, Reina, is very attentive and reached you at the right time.
Today, it was 90 degrees and she was helping all of us to stay "cool" ;)
I could play this track everyday and my behind would get kicked every time.
Nice practice facility, excellent fairways and super challenging greens.....
Challenging but fair
Had an excellent day of golf the Bridges. The overall course is in great shape it's a good time of year to play with all the flowers and natural landscape in bloom. The greens are perfect, a bit faster than most courses though with subtle breaks. Pace of play was OK, it can be a problem some days if you get a group or 2 that have not played there before as it takes a round or 2 to get comfortable with the layout. You can't just hit driver on every par 4 & par 5.

This course is chalencging.
Great Course
Great course. It was challenging but fair and fun to play. The layout initially looked like it would not have as much variety as it seemed to be laid out through a ravine or creek bed. Initially, the proximity of the homes also made it look less appealing. The course layout provided a variety of challenging holes, approach shots with respect to the elevation of greens and proximity of sand traps and hazards. You definitely had to give some thought to distance off the tee to set up your second shot and also keep the ball in play. This element of working through the course was challenging but totally doable and fun. I wondered after the 3rd or 4th hole if it would have been better to walk the course as there were holes where the tee boxes were not located right next to the cart path and because it was lightly raining, I avoided driving the cart onto the fairway as much as possible. Great fun. I look forward to playing it again and would definitely recommend to others.
Challenging
The course was very challenging I enjoyed it quite a bit when I kept the ball on the shortgrass
VERY TOUGH TRACK
Played this track a long time ago when I was a new golfer, and remember it as a wry tough golf course. Brought my brother in law back this weekend and we played a Sunday afternoon round.. Beautiful clubhouse , and practice area, easy check-in and off we go... All I can say is Johnny Miller must have been in a bad mood when he gave the OK for the layout for this course. From the first hole the majority of holes slope either right or left, bals roll into rough even if you hit landing areas. Most fairways are divided by ditches that are overgrown by huge bushes, making it impossible to find a ball. The greens were pitted and were like putting on velcro. We spoke to a marshal who told us the greens were plugged 18 days prior, and need about two more weeks to roll right... Also some fairways were closed to carts for no obvious reason, signs mentioned too wet, we haven't had rain in two weeks!!
I will not return to this course, much too tough for 10 plus handicap , plus the course is NOT well kept up, it appears to be neglected in upkeep.
Great course but not easy
The course is beautiful and I enjoy playing here although I find it very challenging. I played with a member and when I commented that the greens were fast, he advised me that they are a lot faster in the summer. Most of the fairways border canyons so bring an extra sleeve of balls.
Very tough course
This course is very tough, if you can't hit it straight or exactly where you want it, you are in for a long day. I am an 18 handicap so I don't usually like this course, but today my game was on. 43 front, 48 back.
Most holes have a long carry to get to the fairways, the course plays like a links course, target golf, pick a spot and hit it there. Whoever set the pin positions must have been mad at somebody, most were tucked into the corners of greens, or perched on a hump you couldn't get your ball close to. The course is in great shape. I recommend it for anyone wanting a tough test of golf. And to make the day even more special Jerry Rice was playing in the group behnd us. OF course he walked the course, carrying his bag. Tough course to walk
great staff at the ckub house but awful prejudice staff at the drving range
Golf was excellent and course is good consider the drought situation. I book through golfnow but they did not disclosed that that they just aerated the putting greens. useless to use putter , i end up using wedge to putt. its all sand hardly any part of the green can be seen, club house staff are great , but the lady in the driving range is awful no manners at all. Her word is your coupon for free range bucket is not valid, then did you play today? ok like check, what's your name? no pls no smile , just a smirk in her face.
no manners at all .
What happened here?
The greens used to be one of the better ones. Now they are marred with brown ball marks and are soft as a sponge. Ants are plentiful on the greens too... The course conditions have worsened and I may not play here again.
I can see myself having more fun playing my local muni course.
John Miller Torture Tract
A 136 rating from the white tees tells you the course is built as a tough tract. Difficult fairways, hard to recover from a bad shot and unforgiving greens. Even with a good tee shot, your ball will roll off the fairway. Will take a long time to erase the memory of this round and return to Bridges.
Afternoon at The Brisgea
classic Johnny Miller. Long carries on shortish holes that dogleg around hazards. This is a course for better players or those that can hit it straight off the tee. Otherwise you need to pack a dozen balls and br prepared to lose them all. Coursr was in good shapr. Greens were the fastest I hace played in the Bay this late summer. Pin placements can be tough on greens that blend into the surrouno. Some interesting slopes out there. You need to play a few times to feel comfortable with half of the terr ahots out here. I will play again.
